QuoteEleven rounds into the 2010 AFL season, we’ve got a clear premiership favourite and there’s no prizes for guessing it’s the dominant Geelong. They’re flying and it’s hard to see anybody stopping them from making it three premierships in four years.

Following Fremantle’s loss to Adelaide and Geelong win over West Coast on the weekend, the Cats became outright ladder leaders, a game and percentage ahead of second-placed Collingwood.

The Cats brushed aside the Pies, their nearest rivals on the ladder, by six goals a fortnight ago and look a gulf ahead of the chasing pack.

Sportsbet has moved the odds on Geelong to win the premiership to $2.65 and we’re still over three months out from the Grand Final!

Geelong’s dominance is obvious. click here to read the full story

A few weeks ago nick "they" were ready to give Collingwood the premiership. The cats are going well, injuries and form slumps aside they are CURRENTLY the team to beat. 2 of the top five sides HAVE beaten us you know. I think we are vulnerable against really quick sides that move the ball like Carlton. It's shaping up to be a great season, there's still a lot of teams you can't wright off.

My five year old daughter was reading over my shoulder and piped up with "The dogs daddy, they can stop the cats!" LOL ;D ;D

Not tactifully helpful retort I'm sorry but thought I'd share, sometimes perspective is gained from an obtuse angle!

A bold statement Helly. Geelong are not the team to meet when you are struggling  :)

I Have Faith. Dogs have to stand up sometime :D. They have the talent to take down the Cats and reckon they could if they all actually tried ::).

P.S This will be my last post for a while ( a day or so). Will be waiting on 3999 for the right moment 8). Will still be in front bar :).

Geelong have a very even spread of matured experienced players all across the ground. I think they're definetly still good enough this year to do it. Just remember though that Brisbane faded away towards the end of their fourth year of domination which led to a Grand Final loss agaiant the Power. We'll really know if they're capable of winning later in the season when we find out whether some of the older bodies in the team can still stand up for that long.

I agree with chat. Geelong are not a young side. Having said that our oldest player is Darren Milburn who is having as good a season as last year. We do seem to be more injury prone than other years though, it basically comes down to player management and luck.

Well, I think they have it all sewn up, just like they did in '08 or St Kilda last year. September brings us all sorts of surprises and I think that they could easily get knocked over during the pointy end of the season. Don't discount Collingwood or Saints, or even Freo if they get on a run. Bullies also a chance but looking more and more distant with each week.

You know, when you look at the top 4 now compared to the end of last season, only one team has dropped off (Doggies). It's just possible that at the end of this year nothing will have changed.

I doubt that, reckon St.Kilda will struggle some more.
