I just did a draft for my first league yesterday. It was a 12 team leahue, .25 ppr QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, RB/WR/TE, D/ST, K, IDP. A couple of people were using the autopick and I was drafting from the 5 spot.

Round 1: Chris Johnson, if he plays he is a top 3 pick and with Foster, AP, Charles and Rice already taken and the next crop of RB's worth anything in Shady and Turner gone by the next round I had to take Johnson

Round 2: Peyton Manning, QB's had flown off the board with Vick taken first, followed by Rodgers, Brady, Rivers and Brees, with the run on QB's I did not want to take the chance that all the guys I liked being gone so I went with Manning.
Round 3: Miles Austin, I wanted Greg Jennings and was eyeing him with my second round pick, he was taken two picks before mine, I needed to go with a WR and it was between Austin and DeSean Jackson. With DJax missing time in camp and the fact Maclin has been ill all pre season I decided to go with Austin and use him as trade bait for later.
Round 4: Wes Welker, I was eyeing off Bowe and he was picked the pick before mine, I  was looking at taking Moreno, Lynch or Ryan Grant, Moreno and Lynch have the same bye as CJ2k so they were out and I thought I could get Grant my next pick, plus Welker looked to be good value for where I picked him up and sures up my WR's
Round 5: Dallas Clark, a run on TE's by autopick, still thought I could hold off on Grant, went with the best available TE in Clark
Round 6: Cedric Benson, don't like the pick at all but Grant went, Sidney Rice was still on the board but I needed a RB, was holding off on Rice until the next round, Felix Jones and Beanie Wells the two next best available and I don't like either of them.
Round 7: Hines Ward, Sidney Rice was gone, Collie was on the board but I have Manning and Clark already, Ward was the only player I liked at this spot
Round 8:  Pierre Thomas, I needed a back up RB, I liked no one here other then Tolbert and The Lawfirm but they had the same bye as Johnson
Round 9: Mike Tolbert, he is still on the board and was the best available player, he should get goal line carries in an offense that puts up points
Round 10: San Diego, autopick went on a run of D/ST's
Round 11: Kevin Kolb, was tossing up on back up QB's between Kolb and Orton, there was a chance Tebow could be starting week 11 so I went with Kolb, who I hope starts the season well and then I can trade him for something decent
Round 12: Derrick Mason, I wanted Plax but he was taken earlier, I needed the depth at WR and picked Mason
Round 13: Cooley, I could not find the IDP I wanted before my pick ran out, so I took Cooley for depth at TE
Round 14: Clay Matthews, IDP pick
Round 15: David Akers, I wanted Bironas but I would have had my K, D/ST and 2 RB's out on bye that week, went with Akers

I am struggling with Byes a bit, a lot of players out weeks 6, 7 and 11. I have been offered up Shonn Greene for Benson, which I am thinking of taking. I don't trust Benson since they will see a lot of numbers in the box with a rookie qb in, but he will get his touches. I also don't trust Greene with LT still there.

Let me know what you guys think

BratPack

I agree with you in principle over Shonn Green Mat but I'd take Syphilis over Cedric Benson.

Mat0369

It was pretty much the I am screwed pick of the draft. The thing is I know Benson will get his carries, I don't want Greene unless I have LT as a hancuff which I don't

Also Fanfooty league is up, temp draft time set of next friday at 12.30

as I hit to register it said 12.30 was taken so it is on the 2nd of September at 1.30 as a temp time. All previous members will be receiving email around now to register. I am sure all the details should be in the email if the are not I will send them out

I've joined Matt. My preference is for a weekend draft time slot but any week night after 6pm should be ok as well. I work so any workday times will count me out.

Interesting settings with the bonus points for D's. Could be fun. Possibly raises a good D a round or 2. The player projected scores look like they are based on the league scoring system but it's projecting 0.0 4th Down Stops and 3 and Outs so it's not easy to get a good feel on which teams are better at those stats.

RiOtChEsS

r we talking afternoon on that particular draft time? valid question with the hours i keep :P

with the bleak outlook of the nba season ive come up with an outrageous idea...

this year i am going coach 100 fantasy nfl teams... to keep up my career average il need to win atleast 30 titles.

I have taken the scoring set up from a league I do with a bunch of guys in the states. The only problem we might have with draft times is that you have to pick a slot and if it is taken you can't draft then. The slots start from 11pm and finish at 1pm. So we either have to draft late at night or draft in the morning/afternoon.

If weekends is good for everyone maybe either the 3rd or 4th at around 12:30 might be an option or we do an offline draft on a weeknight and post our picks on the board.

Some people might think that's crazy, but not me ;D I was in 10 last year and already in 9 this year, with 2 weeks to go who knows what the final tally will be. I'm pretty sure that I'm addicted to drafting, is there a Drafters Anonymous?

That time is good for me but any times on that weekend are ok. I'd rather do an online draft though.

yeah gotta be online draft or i wont be interested... not a big fan of that roster system either, bit too tedious in my experiences.

one of our ESPN leagues had defensive players and multiple qbs etc, they start to cancel each other out score wise... hard to get a p.o.d

Online draft it is, I will lock it in for Saturday 3rd of September at 12:30 pm, if anything changes I will update the times here. The rosters for this league have not changed since last year. The rosters are still QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, D/ST, K and 6 bench spots. So far we have 5 in the league. We need to get the numbers up

RiOtChEsS

ahhh ok  ??? the setup i read had defensive players in it... sounds good, not making it to last years draft crippled me.

for those interested in an ESPN draft i thought we could all just make a time then head to a standard draft lobby and head in together?
