nice work... maybe we can work out the drafting times to go back to back or atleast in consecutive days for the ESPN League...

gwilliams

I'll be in the ESPN league if there's a free spot.

How many have we got for Yahoo at the moment, still only 5? At this rate we may not get the 12 that you want.

Just 3 weeks to kickoff, woohoo! Saints v Packers

RiOtChEsS

definitely will be b a spot G ;)

whatever numbers we get il work a league around that... maybe bigger rosters? see how we go...

Mat0369

I will give it until half way through next week, if we have not got enough numbers I will post the league on another message board to make the numbers up.

Live Draft 2. In the turn spot of 10. Blech

Round 1+2 (10 and 11): LeSean McCoy and Andre Johnson.
Happy to see McCoy dropped to me. Andre was a toss-up but I'm just more trusting his way
Who I could've taken: Roddy White
McCoy was a lock once he fell to me at 10. But give me the choice between Johnson and White 100 times and I'm probably 50-50 on both.

Round 3+4 (30 and 31): Phillip Rivers and Antonio Gates
Rivers was the last of the 6 elites so he was a lock once he fell to me. Gates I probably reached for but I knew he wasn't coming back to me and with a stud in RB and WR I felt I could take the chance. In hindsight I should've waited. Witten was waiting for me on the next turn.
Who I could've taken: Reggie Wayne
Would have been safer than Gates. But I didn't think one of the three studs at TE was coming back.

Rounds 5+6 (50 and 51): Jahvid Best and Santonio Holmes
I hate Best. Hate Hate Hate. But he has explosive spped. IF he can stay on the field. Holmes I'm more than happy with. He's a solid #2 behind Johnson. Upside isn't much but the key thing is downside isn't either
Who I SHOULD'VE taken: Beanie Wells
He's the only back left in Arizona now that Ryan Williams is injured, I got suckered in by Best's upside. I'm an idiot

Rounds 7+8 (70 and 71): Cedric Benson and Mario Manningham
Case in point. The risky Best meant I had to break my "I won't draft a Bungle" decree and take the safest option as my flex player. That's Benson. Manningham goes without saying. I'm all in on him this year especially if he falls to me in the 7th or 8th round
Who I could've taken: Marshawn Lynch
I think Lynch is going to have a big year. But he also suffers from a disease called "Being Marshawn Lynch" which has proved fatal to fantasy teams in the past. With the Risky Best I couldn't take the upside guy and had to stick with the tried and true Benson.

Rounds 9+10 (90 and 91): Tim Hightower and Pierre Garcon
I don't think much of Hightower but he looks more and more like Washington's starter and at the number 4 RB slot I was prepared to take another starter. Garcon is just there, A real "I hate everyone so I'll take you" pick
Who I could've taken: Mike Thomas
Case in point. I don't rate him. I don't rate Malcom Floyd. I don't rate Lee Evans. I hated everything at this point.

Round 11+12 (110 and 111): Robert Meachem and Plaxico Burress
Little risk High Reward lottery tickets. Meachem looks like he may be over his ankle injury and Plax is going to get targets. I have no problem with them
Who I could've taken: Braylon Edwards
Show me a person who likes "Sir Drops-A-Lot" and I'll show you a masochist. PASS

Round 13+14 (130 and 131): Eagles D and Deion Branch
Normally I don't pick Defence or Kicker till the last 2 rounds but there was litterally NOTHING I liked at this point so I took a D early. Branch is Brady's release valve, a bit like Hines Ward. He has zero upside but he'll get catches at least.
Who I could've taken: Michael Crabtree
Higher upside no doubt but I'll take Brady over Alex Smith thank you.

Round 15+16 (150 and 151): Javon Ringer and Josh Brown
Ringer is the ultimate flyer pick. Stashed at the end of my bench with first cut on his ticket but I picked him because HE'S the guy if Chris Johnson continues to hold out. Zero Risk for Maximum Reward. And the best kicker on the board rounds out
Who I could've taken: Delone Carter
Another of those squad of guys. He's the #3 running back with the Colts. But Addai can't stay healthy and Donald Brown just plain can't play. I think he gets Goal line duties this year and vultures a few TD's

I'm pleased enough from the 10 spot. it's risk reward which is what you have to do there. I flowered up on Best though

10 spot can blow...

im diggin the yahoo auctions, much more reasonably priced and can build better squads...

just wish they didnt take 2+hours to do ::)

been trying varying strategies, while the spreading the budget works well nothing is more exciting than blowing large amounts on elite players early and then piecing a squad together from the $1 to $2 menu late 8) interested to monitor the results of the differing strategies...

I think the key is knowing what you're willing to pay. I know I won't pay more than a dollar for a kicker or more than 2 for a D. And I'm happy filling my bench with a standout high upside guy and 6 $1 dollar players. That leaves me about $180-185 to spend on 6 spots. Using my earlier mock. Peterson is elite and so's CJ2k. I was the first guy to bid a tight end so I snuck Gates under the radar at 11. Rivers was clinically undervalued which left me more than enough to fill the other spots easy

yep that sounds solid ;) a bloke last night got sick of the bidding war on Arian Foster and bumped it from $56 to $185 then left the draft ;D that is one of the strangest things ive ever seen in a draft... clearly he was watching sportscenter as was i and saw he peeled off 2 TDs and and 50+ yards on about 5 carries...

RiOtChEsS

in an auction now and im down to the dollar menu...

QB: Rivers
RB: Run DMC
RB: Forte
WR: Fitz
WR: Vincent Jackson
RB: Felix Jones
TE: Dallas Clark
WR: Mike Williams
WR: Austin Collie

this was a balanced budget strategy... pretty happy with it but its very safe and i like to be bold...

#327
I like to be bold as well  ;D Normally splash out on 4 or 5 of the top dudes and hope to pick up some cheap bargains later on.

Here's what I did in a 'real' Yahoo PPR auction. Overpaid for McCoy - got in to a bidding war as he was the last RB worth getting at nomination 34. Bit thin on the bench but as long as my dudes stay healthy I should do ok.

Budget    $200
1.    (4)    Arian Foster (Hou - RB)    $42
2.    (11)    Miles Austin (Dal - WR)    $26
3.    (16)    Reggie Wayne (Ind - WR)    $24
4.    (18)    Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB)    $38
5.    (34)    LeSean McCoy (Phi - RB)    $47
6.    (62)    Greg Olsen (Car - TE)    $1
7.    (92)    Donovan McNabb (Min - QB)    $1
8.    (106)    Steve Smith (Car - WR)    $6
9.    (123)    Hines Ward (Pit - WR)    $2
10.    (128)    Nick Folk (NYJ - K)    $1
11.    (134)    Jerome Simpson (Cin - WR)    $2
12.    (135)    Detroit (Det - DEF)    $1
13.    (139)    Pierre Thomas (NO - RB)    $2
14.    (141)    Mike Tolbert (SD - RB)    $4
15.    (142)    Johnny Knox (Chi - WR)    $1
16.    (147)    Robert Meachem (NO - WR)    $1
Unused    $1

Olsen and McNabb were attempts to get them off the table but no-one went for them - there was one autobidder  :-[. Consequently I'm now trying to get Keller or Pettigrew off waivers.

Probably best to get the top dudes early on because if you overpay it's probably only a couple of dollars. Later on when it gets a bit desperate then you pay way too much.

gwilliams

And here's a 'real' ESPN auction - standard... Went big on Peterson and Andre, didn't leave much for the rest of team. But probably a better bench than the Yahoo one.

1   Adrian Peterson, Min RB     $63
7   Rashad Jennings, Jac RB     $1
12   Andre Johnson, Hou WR     $47
31   Matt Forte, Chi RB     $24
33   Philip Rivers, SD QB     $22
46   Jeremy Maclin, Phi WR     $18
77   Jets D/ST D/ST     $1
80   Austin Collie, Ind WR     $10
97   Jimmy Graham, NO TE     $1
98   Chad Ochocinco, NE WR     $6
107   Hines Ward, Pit WR     $1
116   Brandon Jacobs, NYG RB     $2
117   Brandon Pettigrew, Det TE     $1
127   Jerome Harrison, Det RB     $1
135   Danny Woodhead, NE RB     $1
142   Sebastian Janikowski, Oak K     $1

The more auctions I do the more that I like the strategy element. Lots of fun, but like you said Marcz, 2+ hours is a long long time  ;D

RiOtChEsS

solid squads there G... definitely tougher on ESPN as the prices r sky high on the top guys

on average u pay about 50 for AP in Yahoo and 60-65 on ESPN...

i had a Yahoo auction draft late last night and nobody showed up :o

prices were high but the draft rolled thru in 90 minutes 8)

basically i didnt nominate a single player i wanted just fed the autobidders garbage :P

my team is...

1.    (3)    Jamaal Charles (KC - RB)    $44
2.    (10)    Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB)    $36
3.    (15)    Roddy White (Atl - WR)    $38
4.    (25)    Vincent Jackson (SD - WR)    $32
5.    (65)    Mario Manningham (NYG - WR)    $18
6.    (67)    Felix Jones (Dal - RB)    $8
7.    (77)    Ryan Grant (GB - RB)    $9
8.    (87)    Baltimore (Bal - DEF)    $4
9.    (97)    Garrett Hartley (NO - K)    $1
10.    (107) Rob Gronkowski (NE - TE)    $4
11.    (117) Plaxico Burress (NYJ - WR)    $1
12.    (126) BenJarvus Green-Ellis (NE - RB)    $1
13.    (132) Marcedes Lewis (Jac - TE)    $1
14.    (137) Lee Evans (Bal - WR)    $1

overpaid for Jackson and Manningham and the Baltimore D basically bcos i got impatient...
