if u can update in this thread that will help me out as my yahoo email is not checked upon much ;)

I will try and update both. You can actually link another email to your yahoo account. I have done this so I receive all my updates for my yahoo fantasy teams on my hotmail account
sweet il try that ;) pretty sure the only reason i got a yahoo one was to play yahoo fantasy...

8-6 Suited

I actually much prefer Yahoo to ESPN. ESPN's website is sluggish at best. :x

Funny that. I'm the exact opposite. I hate Yahoo's setup and find it very slow

So my first live draft happened yesterday, my longest running league (5 years now). Always drafts early which makes trading and waiver play that much more fun

10 teams. I draw the #5 pick. In this case I'll show you who I drafted and why and who I could have had (IE: My next best option) and why I didn't take him

Round 1 (#5): Jamaal Charles (RB, KC)
Someone jumped on the Vick bandwagon, he went number 2. The Big 3 (Peterson, Foster, CJ2K) were the other three choices. Charles is the next best and could break into the elite this year. I have no qualms whatsoever taking Charles here.
Who I could have taken: Aaron Rodgers: I don't dislike Rodgers, in fact in most of my mock drafts I usually end up with him. I just like Charles's upside that much more. Rodgers last till the end of the first round before being snapped up.

Round 2 (#16): Michael Turner (RB, ATL)
I decided I wanted two top tier running backs and Turner was one of the last on the board. Still has upside and unless he gets injured his downside isn't bad at all. A safe pick more than a good one.
Who I could have taken: Calvin Johnson: I love Megatron.....IF you could guarantee me Stafford is going to play at least 10 games. Even so I admit it was a toss up but ultimately I think Wideout is deeper this year than Running Back so the lack of quality left on the board (Literally the only other top tier guy was Frank Gore) turned me to Turner over Megatron. Megatron fell to open the third at pick 21.

Round 3 (#25): Phillip Rivers (QB, SD)
I want one of the top six QB's in basically every draft I'm in. Drew Brees going one pick before me meant Rivers was the last one on the board. Another no hesitation pick here, even if Matthews and Tolbert get it together Rivers is an elite fantasy QB.
Who I could have taken: Antonio Gates: Literally there was no wideout I liked over Gates in that slot so if Rivers was gone I would've bought Gates early. But again the fact of the last top 6 QB's made it a no-brainer. Gates went at pick 31 to open the 4th

Round 4 (#36): Miles Austin (WR, Dal)
I figured I had to buy into the wideout at this point. I don't dislike Austin as a number one. He's going to do enough to get you good numbers most weeks.
Who I could have taken: Matt Forte: Would've been a great flex pick and made my Running Back core almost unbeatable most weeks. I just was worried if I took him there'd be nothing waiting for me in terms of a number one Wideout on the comeback. Forte was snapped up three picks after me.

Round 5 (#45): Ahmad Bradshaw (RB, NYG)
Turned out my hunch was right. Nothing I liked at wideout necessitated the Flex pick. Yes Jacobs is still there but Bradshaw is the most solid guy left on the board at this point.
Who I could have taken: Knowshon Moreno: I'm a big believer in Moreno this year. I just like Bradshaw that little bit more. That said I probably still would've taken Moreno....had he not been taken the pick before me in the next round  >:(

Round 6 (#56): Brandon Lloyd (WR, Den)
So with Moreno gone and only one WR in my team I turn to his Denver teammate. Like Megatron, I don't HATE the value here.....if you could guarantee me Kyle Orton was going to play the whole year. Still he's a solid enough #2
Who I could have taken: Dallas Clark: I love Clark but Lloyd was the last guy I felt happy throwing in at number 2 at this point. He went two picks later

Round 7 (#65): Mario Manningham (WR, NYG)
Mega Upside, especially now that Steve Smith is gone. I was PRAYING he'd fall to me and I went from okay, to scared when Kenny Britt fell off the board and my friend Dale was up. But he plugged for Owen Daniels. At which point I hit the "Draft Faster" button. I will gladly take Manningham's upside if I don't have to start him.
Who I could have taken: Shonn Greene: Yeah okay LT's still there but he has to crack sometime. I probably would've turned the Jets back's way had the draft been true to usual form. A thought confirmed when he was the very next pick after mine.

Round 8 (#76): Austin Collie (WR, Ind)
I was shocked he was downselled that far. I almost took the round before but Manningham's upside was that much better. Okay his concussions are a worry but when he plays he stars. Another no hesitation pick when he fell to me here.
Who I could have taken: Chad Ochocinco: I'm hugely on the Ocho bandwagon but Collie was just too good to pass up at 76. Ocho fell two picks later.

Round 9 (#85): Daniel Thomas (RB, Mia)
Again someone has to run the ball and as my backup I can store him and pray he explodes. I like Thomas better than Ingram anyway and I was quite happy to have him fall to me here
Who I could have taken: Sidney Rice: Would've been a steal at this point as he too had been horrifically undersold. But I just don't trust T-Jack. He fell all the way to 91.

Round 10 (#96): Jimmy Graham (TE, NO)
I did reach here I admit, but I love Graham's upside and I felt he wasn't going to get back to me in the next round. So I bought in probably a round too early in hindsight.
Who I could have taken: Marshawn Lynch: Definately would've been a safer pick. But again Graham's upside is that much better. Lynch went two picks after me.

Round 11 (#105): Lance Moore (WR, NO)
It's a pick that just there....Moore was probably the wide I would've taken if I took one the round before so I'm not upset by it or anything. It's just a do-nothing pick
Who I could have taken: Joesph Addai: Wideout was a more pressing need and I don't buy the fact he'll play more than 10 games. If I didn't have Thomas I might have pegged for him but as it was I needed to be boring here.

Round 12 (#116): C.J Spiller (RB, Buf)
I'm quite happy to gamble on a high upside guy in my last RB spot on the bench. Spillers not the starter but I think he has more upside than most people think. If Fred Jackson flops Spiller is waiting in the wings.
Who I could have taken: Michael Crabtree: Yeah.....Right. Not while Alex Smith is still the QB.

Round 13 (#125): Steve Smith (WR, Car)
Yes he has either Newton or Clausen as QB. But who the heck else are they going to throw it to? In the 13th round and the #6 WR spot I'm happy to take a punt on him if noone else will. I'm willing to bet last season is an abberation.
Who I could have taken: Mike Sims-Walker: Excuse me while I laugh. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Two words. Flower....That.

Round 14 (#136): Sam Bradford (QB, STL)
Don't really need a back up but he's too good to pass up in the 14th. Gives me trade options should he repeat his dosage from last year.
Who I could have taken: Hines Ward: I would've been happy with Mr.Dancing with the Stars as a number 7 WR. Bradford just gives me better options.

Round 15 (#145): Chargers D/ST
Round 16 (#156): Billy Cundiff (K, Bal)
As per usual Defence and Kicker in the last two rounds.

Overall: I'm happy with my team. I might be a wideout short but I think I can make up for that. Especially if Bradford fires. Despite waiting my WR core is strong enough and I have two top 10 RB's and a Top 6 QB...and if Graham esplodes, look out.

Got no clue what you were just talking about BP.
NFL is one of the sports I don't follow, I mean I think it's great and enjoy watching it, but have never paid enough attention to it to know the good players and such

Nice choices there BP.

I also had my first live draft on the weekend, here's my team. 10 teams, I was pick #8.

Being outside the reach of the first round RBs I decided to top up on WR. If Ryan Grant stays healthy then Turner/Grant isn't a bad pair of RBs. I usually only draft one QB but since I didn't get a top tier QB I decided to get Kolb as well as Schaub. Hopefully one of them will go off this year. I like having a QB/WR combo from the same NFL team, with this team I've got 2  ;D.

I also like to take a couple of rookies so I got Ryan Williams and Roy Helu, you just never know, it makes you look like a genius if they have a breakout year. If not then you will need to pick up waiver dudes during the year so a non-performing rookie is a perfect choice to drop. I also like Jimmy Graham, lots of potential.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my team, it's probably in the top 2 or 3 teams that were drafted.

8   Andre Johnson, Hou WR
13   Michael Turner, Atl RB
28   Larry Fitzgerald, Ari WR
33   DeSean Jackson, Phi WR
48   Matt Schaub, Hou QB
53   Ryan Grant, GB RB
68   Cedric Benson, Cin RB
73   Austin Collie, Ind WR
88   Ryan Williams, Ari RB
93   Mike Thomas, Jac WR
108   Kevin Kolb, Ari QB
113   Jimmy Graham, NO TE
128   Roy Helu, Wsh RB
133   Derrick Mason, NYJ WR
148   Chargers D/ST D/ST
153   Stephen Gostkowski, NE K

Not too bad g.

Here's my thoughts just from observing

Andre Johnson: I'm assuming both Rodgers and Vick were gone as well. No problem taking Andre here. Although I probably would've gone Roddy White as the first wideout off the board.
Michael Turner: No problem whatsoever taking him here. Safe pick, quality starter
Larry Fitzgerald: STEAL! I wish I could get him to last to 28 in my drafts  ::) . But Noooo I usually have to settle on Miles Austin or Dez Bryant
Desean Jackson: Again no problem, about where he should be.
Matt Schaub: Hmmmm. I don't HATE the pick but I don't like it either. This is a reason I try to land an top 6 QB. So I don't have to worry about taking one when I want to take upside players like Manningham.
Ryan Grant: No problem again. I'd be hesitant taking him as a number 2. But if he explodes he's solid enough there.
Cedric Benson: ICK! No offense g but if you want Benson you can bloody well have him :P I want NOONE on the Bungles this year except MAYBE A.J Green.....Maybe....If I have 4 WR's that are ahead of him on my depth chart.
Austin Collie: Like my draft too good to pass up at the spot. No complaints at all
Ryan Williams: I like his potential. Not as much as Thomas but better than Ingram. Solid 4th RB
Mike Thomas: Okay for what you paid for him. I'd pass him cause there's too many questions about the Jags. Only guy I want from there is Mercedes Lewis.....and Maybe Rashard Jennings in a deeper league.
Kevin Kolb: I think you overpaid....I'm not sold on Kolb....if you offer me Stafford or Bradford in round 12-13 I'd take them over Kolb in the 11th.
Jimmy Graham: Love this pick. Love his upside
Roy Helu: Part of me says good move...part of me says "They signed Tim Hightower for a reason". Again if I'm going to reach. I'd reach for Spiller and hope Jackson flops or Rashard Jennings and hope MJD breaks down.
Derrick Mason: I don't HATE it. If Plax fails Mason's the fallback guy. But it's kind "Eh"

Thanks for the critique there BP, much appreciated.

Yes, Rodgers went on pick 4. Vick was still there but I'm not overly keen on picking a QB on round 1. I had Peyton lined up for round 3 but he went the pick before I got Fitzgerald. I was then hoping for Romo but he went 2 picks before I settled for Schaub. Just hoping that Foster gets more receiving TDs than rushing  ;D

I've got a soft spot for poor old Cedric, he took me to a championship, along with Ray Rice, 2 years ago.

RiOtChEsS

last night i did a standard ESPN scoring draft and i tell u what there some bananas in the drafting room ;D

originally my plan going in was to draft a late round QB as id just done a mock and was happy with the outcome, so rather than have all my teams drafted off similar strategies i went "unique". What i didnt count on were the other people leaving near on every player on the board that i had interest in, here goes...

Pick 4 in the draft i chose Jamaal Charles even tho Foster was there, the upside this guy has is ridiculous he was a top 5 back while Thomas Jones pilfered over 200 carries off him last year and Foster i dont consider to be top 5 this year...

Pick 17 Roddy White... yeah thats right Roddy White at 17 :o at this point im salivating at the potential of the team i can build if the draft continues down this path, Andre Johnson went the pick before this so i knew i was getting one of the 2 best WRs in fantasy...

Pick 24 Calvin Johnson :o yeah Megatron at 24 :P worth noting i could have took Fitz but the Lions love to throw and Calv put up double digit TDs an over 1000 yds last year with three different QBs, shortened training camp and new QB for Fitz meant i prefer Megatron...

Pick 37 Miles Austin 8) after my previous picks im considering abandoning the late QB and considering Romo bcos The Cowboy offense is coming together nicely and i believe they will explode this year, Romo Austin and Jones... Whitten will remain idle in production and Bryant i think will marginally improve but wont be worth a 4th to 5th round pick more a 7th imo. Romo went 2 picks before hand and there were no RBs i wanted in the bracket so i winged and loaded my WR corps taking Austin, from here on i dont even care about WRs as they wont get on the field this 3 r as impressive combo as anyone is likely to draft.

Pick 44 Felix Jones stoked with this pick i think the guy breaks out this year and becomes a top 10 running back in total yards with his impressive catching ability and the multiple weapon offense The Boys will be running u cant cover everyone Austin, Whitten, Jones, Bryant is going to make for great balance and big scores. A little early maybe but with my next pick at 57 and Jones ranked at 51 it wasnt a stretch.

Pick 57 Josh Freeman love the look of this kid, he broke out last year and was a top 10 fantasy QB has impressive wheels and more weapons on his team this year than last, i project him being able to post around 270pts compared to his 240 last year.

Pick 64 Shonn Green love this pick im big on this kid and i may not even be able to get him on the field if Jones breaks out.

Pick 77 Packers D, tbh who knows if this will be a good pick :-\ on last years points and this years projections for standard leagues it was worth it for me based on where i was in this draft. At time of making this pick i wanted to take Austin Collie but thought it would be a waste as he wont get on the field nor would a running back from this spot so i wanted to build my on field potential. The Steelers went the pick prior.

Pick 84 Austin Collie :o :P he was still on the board so figured why the flower not 8)

Pick 97 Jimmy Graham The Saints TE, huge stretch but he was my choice of the remaining TEs being Winslow just went before my pick and i believe this bloke posts top 10 TE numbers with Shockey gone...

Pick 104 Eli Manning basically a value pick and security blanket for Freeman should he fail, with Nicks and Manningham healthy Eli will put up high 27-32 TDs this year and could be a good play in some weeks so il look at exploiting the defensive matchups Freeman and Eli have and go with the QB who faces the defense that gives up the most deep balls.

Pick 117 Thomas Jones bit of a meh pick except for the fact that i have Charles and he is the only potential handcuff, should either get injured i will reap the rewards of The Kansas City Chiefs love of running the ball...

Pick 124 Greg Olsen again a value pick with young QBs loving to dump it off to TEs when struggling to make reads Olsen could be a solid pick at TE, should Jimmy Graham be just average il be exploiting matchups between he and Olsen.

Pick 137 Neil Rackers solid kicker ranks in top 5... cant get excited for Kickers in standard formats...

Pick 144 Matthew Stafford, normally i only go with two QBs but with a lack of any real need to build depth at  other positions i figure take a late round gamble on this kid who has impressive numbers on averages, if this kid can string a full season he will be a top 10 fantasy QB bcos The Lions just flatout throw the ball and their bandaid back field will keep them hurling it.

Pick 157 Jacoby Ford Raiders wideout that has been likened to DeSean Jackson has plenty of upside and if he breaks out il look to trade him for some extra RB depth.

If this isnt a championship team i wont draft one this year, fair to say there were some real oddities with others selections that allowed me to build such a strong squad but it certainly wont cheapen the wins :P

I'm not opposed to drafting QB in the first round, if you give me Aaron Rodgers and the top 4 backs are gone. I'm sorta kinda with you on Vick though, I think last season is an abberation and he's not worth a first round, which means I probably won't have him in any of my teams this year. I just don't like Schaub in the 5th when in most drafts I can get Eli in the 9th and Stafford/Bradford in the 12/13th. Not that Schaub won't be solid but a 5th rounder is an overpay

No  ;D. That's just downright unfair. Your league opponents won't even bother with their teams after round 1.

I've only done one mock auction draft and didn't think that it was too bad but it doesn't even come close to yours.

Yeah you're probably right. I was happy enough to get Peterson and CJ2k for under $100 but then Fitz fell to me at 22. Rivers at 24. Gates at 11 means I don't know what the hell the others were smoking. Then Jackson and Blount as my flex. I would so crush everyone with that team  :P WHY CAN I NOT DO THIS IN REAL DRAFTS?
