It is really, and when you think about it, there is no way there could possibly be any compensation for a judd or Ablett. They're unique players no amount of draft picks or players can compensate for.

Just like Prismall ;) ;) ;).

Hopefully, for all the cats supporters, Ablett stays out of loyalty ::).

Yeah, but down here the word is that if he was staying he would've said so, to stop all the whispers and rumors.

Maybe they just want to give False Hope to the supporters?

At the time I felt cheated.. However, four years down the track I am happy with Kennedy's development, he will be a star. Masten is yet to come good but I am hopeful. Not Judds calibre but he will be a successful AFL player.

Tony Notte has some sort of disorder that inhibits his ability to bulk up. Neither Tony or the Eagles were aware of this condition at the time of his recruiting. He has been in good form for the Swans in the WAFL. He played a couple games in his Debut season, 08 i believe.

What circumstances did Geelong receive Ablett Jr? Father son rule?

Ill premise what I'm about to say with the statement that I do not believe in the father son rule. No other professional sport in the world has a rule similar to it.

I dont think that Geelong or any club for that matter should recieve extra compensation for players lost to GCFC and GWS. I do feel that the expansion teams should forfit a high draf pick 1 - 20 if gain a player of the ilk of Judd or Ablett. But I think GCFC and GWS will need all the help they can get. In the interest of maintaining an even competition, or at least attempting to achieve an even competition I dont believe that Geelong should get special treatment. Their team is dominant, perhaps too dominant, they have had their time and their success and its time to share the talent around.

Of course I'm not a Geelong supporter, who would automatically disagree with my sentiments. I understand the radical nature of my comments completely, and were the Eagles in the same position as Geelong I would probably have a different point of view....

We'll just have to see how it pans out. Good as he is Gablett is only one player and we'll just have to cover his loss somehow.
I think players only change clubs for 2 MAIN reasons, chasing premierships or money. Gablett would know that he is unlikely to play in a premiership team with GC, so the only factor would be money. Family considerations may have some influence.
More than likely he has made up his mind, and is going to move.

Although, even if Ablett does go, he is not Geelongs most important player. Would be in the top 5 and on the occasion wins a game off his own boot and is valuable, but not the most valuable.

They can't afford to lose that strong backline they've built. Even the youngsters recruited.

Nup. Remember JJ was the only player transferred and they got a high draft pick. Big rip off eagles be half.
But Kennedy wanted to go home to WA. West Coast did need something else

He is turning into a good CHF. Still reckon they could of tugged the Blues for some extra bits ;).

bunyip

I've got him in my dream Team. He's a class act. Better than most CHF's

MissPiesFF

Gary is not going anywhere. It is all hype for the media.

bunyip

Then why doesn't he just say so?  (good to c u back MP )

I agree bunyip, Ablett is 95% gone. This would be a distraction on the Cats for a premiership, and if he was gonna stay, he would've said so. Unless he is holding out for the Captaincy.

Geelong aren't able to up the money. Gold Coast have said they've already signed some very good players just can't say.... all adds up
