Forgot Presti and probably Hurn.

Presti isn't a fantasy player but if i had to choose, is one of those ideal Full Backs who just go in and do their job every week.

Hodge doesn't play back much anymore. of those I'd go Scarlett but i have to say that if Presti was there he'd be the one.

Presti beats most full forwards, but does he instigate forward thrusts like most modern full backs do?

Well the job of a full back is to keep his opponent goalless and he does that, if a goalie didn't concede a goal but didn't make 'forward thrusts' do you think the coach would be happy?

For me the best current day backman is a toss up between Fletcher & Scarlett IMO. I'd probably say Fletcher just over Scarlett as he not only restricted his opponent's ability to score goals but also created attacks with his penetrating kicks & is a very versatile player. 

I remember Scarlett used to be a dour defender, but over the last 2-3 years he has started to play a similar style to Fletcher for Geelong.

Honourable mentions to Presti & Darren Glass.
