I'd give Melbourne a shot at upsetting Freo, the pressure would all be on Freo and they don't have the best finals record.

The difference between Melbourne and Essendon is that Melbourne won't have as much personel turning over - they might lose McDonald and axe the useless Miller, but I'd expect Green and Bruce to go around again.

If they beat the Hawks this week I think they will make the top 8... But is it what you really want? because then they will have unrealistic expectations next year... and most likely fail. I think it would be better if they just miss out and then next year come out with a realistic goal to make the 8.

I disagree, Melbourne's a young team and making the finals will give them a huge amount of confidence and mate-ship.

Reckon the Demons should fair much better though should they make the 8. They have much more quality through the high draft picks. The bombers on the other hand, don't have a forward line where the Demons do. They can probably sustain it for a few years.

Here Here. I agree, they deserve a turn around in luck. Jim Stynes has done an amazing job at the club, and now it deserves some luck on the field as well.

To get in the top 8 you have to win 12 games, which means Melbourne have to go through the rest of the season undefeated. As I said, possible, but unlikely. They still have to play Hawthorn, Port (away) and North. It would be a brave man who would bet on the Dees winning all them.
