My team:

Goddard, Hodge, Enright, Gilbee, Malceski, Hunt, Maguire

Davis, Weberelry
----------------
Ablett, Swan, Montagna, Barlow, Mitchell, Higgins

Howilett, Martin
----------------
SANDILANDS, Tippett

Lobbe, warnock
--------

Brown, ROK, Pav, Goodes, Hall, Met-hurts, Jpod

Rocklif, Hitchcock

Ranked 4400, 12 trades left and about 4,500 only in the bank. My forwards need a upgrade Hall, hurts, Jpod, holding on to tippett in good faith.
At this stage of the season how many trades is too little? How many does everyone else have? Open to thoughts on my team?

hahah, your backline is my original starting backline.. Only dif is that I traded hunt out for H.Shaw :P

I have 10 trades w/ $210,100 looking to use one more in forward line giving me a 6/6/1/6 premmy spread with Goose, Hille, Z-Bell my non premmies

Carn

its my original back line too haven't had to touch it. Will get H.Shaw next week I think.

Maybe look at Hurn also for a tiny bit more consistancy and uniqueness

I have 11 trades left. But probably only need 2 more upgrades around the ground (for Martin and Mayne). 1 downgrade should cover them so 3 more trades left for me to make now.

12 trades is fine for now. Seen people with 8 trades. Then you should slow down a bit.

Hunt could probably get the boot. Hall or Medders next maybe? Goodes on the fall looks a decent trade for one of them (probably medders).

If you still feel a little fussy, Have Maguire, Hall and Tippett who could all be traded out before or during finals time.

I am ranked 2556 and have 9 trades left. But very happy with my team and don't feel I need to trade apart from LTI's cos I also have adequate bench cover for each position if out for a week or 2. Pretty sure last year I had more at this stage, but by the end of the season was using trades just cos I could, finished inside top 2000 last year.

In regards to your team it is pretty solid except for the forwards as you have said. I would say at this stage you should hold onto pods if he keeps getting a game he is a keeper for that 7th forward position. So that just leaves hall and medhurst, i think you should only upgrade one for now, probably medhurst cos hall has potential to score highly, even though inconsistent.

If you downgrade martin to maybe armstrong if he gets named again you could upgrade medhurst to any forward you wanted except chappy. that would leave you with 10 trades so i would probably hold off for a while after that.

What does everyone think about getting in a cheap MMP player (MCNEIL, Dylan 83K) for Methurst so I can switch Higgins into the fwd line and the use the cash to upgrade martin?

So effectively with 2 trades I have upgraded 2 premiums slots.

Have not done the sums so what about:>

Met - Whurst > Rohan (missed the boat by 1 week) MPP

Martin > ?

Rohan > mids & Higgins > Fwds

Just a thought & Rohan a possability of making more cash

Carn

yeah i know i missed that one by a week. I was too much of a tight rs and didn't want to pay more that 100k for a rookie.  Probably should have.

If i do what you have said it would leave with about a 470K  upgrade for martin... hmmm... not great is it...

To have 6 left for finals, which is what I reckon you need to give you the best chance of victory, you need to average 0.8 trades a week.

Therefor, at round 10 lockout, you should have used 8 trades (12 left). I'd recommend to err on the side of caution and overuse my trades in the second half of the season, thats why I have 16 left and I'm not sure about trading this week, my team should get over the line as it stands.

You never know what's around the corner in this game, so best to be prepared by saving trades.

You're team looks very healthy, no point trading atm unless you're fighting for the 8.

I guess it really does all come down too what you want to achieve this year.

If you want to get the highest finish you trade more now and get players that will score well throughout the rest of the season but risk injuries.

If you want to win your office league so you can rub it into that guy in back cubical that knows all the stats from every game, then hold on to them and trade up right before finals.

Finding the middle ground is difficult. Anyone else finding this?

With $300 on the line in my private league, and jack shower chance of winning the overall, I need no middle ground.

Cash is a way better motivator than office pride. Go for it champ.
