Still though, say somebody puts 40 credits on the Pies Geelong game, and I have two hundred, and they get 100 profit and so do I, what the incentive to place more money? I think it should be if you get it right you get back whatever you betted x2

Maybe have like a jackpot with the credits lost. If you pick the correct margin of your game and its the highest scoring game, you get the rest of the credits from that round (otherwise they are lost forever)?
