Not sure if you noticed, the only reason he gets 40 possies is because when the cats get it they just throw it to him and"say "Do something good". :P
Please tell me that's a joke MASTER Q.

bunyip

Look...the thing is the days of the "receiver" are long gone. If you don't get you're own ball these days you don't get a game

Bluke

The fact that he delivers on the "something good" nine times out of ten is the reason he makes it into my list at #1; he is a champion and should make every top 5 MVP list.

1) Gary Ablett Jr

2) Aaron Sandilands (Freo would be lost without him, very hard to pick him over Pavlich)

3) Chris Judd

4) Luke Hodge

5) Kane Cornes (Rarely has a bad game, been a big part of Ports good form so far this season. Hasn't missed a game since 2003/4 (from memory)) Tags and wins his own ball.

bunyip

I'm not really disagreeing with you Bluke, but do you think Geelong would miss Ablett MORE than Carlton would miss Judd?

Bluke

I agree Carlton would miss Judd more than Geelong would miss Ablett.

However, if Ablett played for Carlton, they would miss him more..

bunyip

Yer, and if cows could fly we'd all be in trouble ;D

Master Q

Ablett is a good player. He's got a great Kick. Great Skills.
But when you compare him to others, he can't go any higher then 5.
What i'm trying to say is, Judd will get you the ball, Sandi will win the Hitouts and start the play, Hodge sweeps all over the ground. What does Ablett do? Chase players down? Kick it into the Forward Line? Cheapless Handballs? Not saying that he's worthless, he's valuable to any team, just not as much as others.

A valid point Master Q. Do you think that the better a team gets the less reliant they become on champion players?
eg. If Swan did not play against Geelong next week, would he really be missed that much, or, as suggested earlier are Collingwood good enough to cover for him?
Has Carlton reached a level that they are less reliant on Judd?
Are Pavlich or Barlow more important to Fremantle than Swan is to the Pies?

Bunyip, this is not what i am asking as a question, It's not, what player is most important to their team, it's more how valuable he is and what he would do for your team and make a difference.

I think Nick Riewoldt is proving that he is the MVP! What a difference a player can make.

bunyip

Right on Oss. There's always room in any team for a "power forward". Look at Dawes and Pods'. If Nick played for your team you'd be wrapt to the back teeth wouldn't you.
So, in answer (I hope) to Master Q's question, given for arguments sake that Nick is St. Kilda's MVP would he be Geelongs ?
I would say no. I still believe Chappy would be our MVP.  However you would get a different answer from a supporter of a club that may be in the building phase.
I'm NOT saying Geelong couldn't do with a player of Nick's quality, especially considering his position, but he would be a more IMPORTANT asset to some other teams.

Bunyip and Ossie, i agree with you, thats why JB is on my list, because I think JB is better then Roo.

Don't agree with that, Ablett hard to tackle, Judd hard to tackle.
Judd wins more ball than Ablett.
Anblett has more handball receives.
Seeing as Carlton can't win the footy much without Judd how is Ablett going to get his handball receives?

THANK YOU!

Finally someone gets what i mean!

PS: Many players said that Judd is the Hardest player to tackle, so...

Alex7089

For sure, his hips are strong, he would be tough to bring down, COG would be dead on. His pace helps as well. Way more important than GAJ, flogs him. Would take Judd any day.
