What would you do if you were coaching a team that was not going to play in the finals this year? If the bottom 4 teams don.t win, and I know at least one of them will, how do you approach the rest of the season.
No high draft picks next year remember so there is no advantage in coming last this year.
So there won't be a high turnover of players will there? Or will clubs look at mature age players to recruit.
I don't think coaches have a choice this year, they simply HAVE to put their best team out every week and build experience into their current group of players.

Reckon they'll probably do an entire turnover mid year to try and fight back for a little dignity. Drop some underperforming starters for some young guys.

I think we'll see more mature aged recruits coming next year after the success they've had this year. Think Richmond will use a few draft picks on them (need a little more experienced list). Some should slip through, so need to find the hidden gems.

Remember we were talking about how important scouts are to a club earlier this year? It's not just young guns they will be looking at now.

Think there is a huge gulf between the top and bottom this year.

Have to play the youngsters

I think the coaches will have to think outside the square ossie. Look at Pods, Brodie Moles, Barlow etc. All mature age recruits :)

If a team has no way of making the top 8, they will give their youngsters a run with different combination's and see where they can improve on structure and game plan.

Well this is the sensible thing to do, if it happens is a different story lol. As for bottoming out well Melb did and grabbed some very nice top draft picks and have at least gone on to making the most of them.

It seemed to work for Melbourne and Carlton. Why not Richmond?

The first priority pick is like #17 or something like that.  That wont give you the first crack at the best young talent

What I meant oss was that Richmond have had the chance to get high draft picks for a few years now and, to me, it doesn't seem to have worked as well as for other teams :(
