Hawks - Is it all in the head?

Hawks have had plenty of injuries, that is true. I'm still of the opinion that 1 year of bad injuries is bad luck, 2 years is poor management.

Unfortunate for the Hawks, just don't know what went wrong! They looked like creating a dynasty. Don't get me wrong, I'd glady miss two finals series in a row if it meant the Pies would win this year! But still.

Incompetance which is unrecognised can be dangerous. Just look at Joe Hockey at the Press Club today but now I digress.

And what a lovely team to announce you are back to! It would have been worth going to just watch the Carlton misery.

Wouldn't it be great if we were back...But reservations and not jumping too quickly to the grand final could be advisable. I arrived back in the country last monday and went to the game with a few mates, expecting to see the hawks demolished by what appeared to be a dynamite carlton over the past few weeks.
But we were hungry, we tackled hard and the subtle influence and support from burgoyne, skipper and hooper were awesome to watch as was the significance and importance to our line up of the fully fit young and sewell.
Burgoyne is 'silk' and his deft touch and disposal efficiency will surely see Buddy making best friends with him at any chance he gets.
Skipper was not 'all that' but if he can stand up and at least present in the ruck he serves as the break that the big hearted renouf needs. This year will be known as the year renouf was made. To look at him now compared to late 2008 is impressive in comparison and even though he is still considered a bit of a duffer I think he will stand tall in a couple of years and be one of the best rucks in the competition. Interesting to see that Taylor is only a couple of weeks out from being fit? The hawks might have three ruckmen in two weeks! OMG.
Murphy was 100% efficiency on the weekend, does that mean he no longer gets the tag of club whipping boy? Doubt it but it was a good game from the lad.
Encouraging signs all over the ground on the weekend, but markedly was the ability of our defence to stand up and be counted for the first time this year. "hawks have no leg speed in the backline" defeated one of the fastest forward lines in the game with the three indigenous boys at Carlton. Brown was sensational and should never play forward again.
Still waiting for sammy, roughie and cyril to play well which is a good sign for the hawks and the youngter peterson was great to watch.
We should do very well this weekend at the MCG with a depleted swans line up, but you can never count out Roo's and this week will tell us if the hawks just got fired up for one game or if there line-up, without a plethora of injuries, is actually capable of knocking on the door of the eight.
Hawks were good...keep it going boys.
How important is Young!!

I think this thread is correct - it is all in the head?

The side is much better now on paper than it was 3 months ago, yet two very poor losses.

Justin Bieber

Agreed. They seemed a top 4 side (for others, not me) on paper prior to the season. But things never fall into place since that Premiership.

Boomz

They have patches were they look like a top 4 side but then the next week they look more like a bottom 4 side... Something not right.

Big Lance, I don't think you are ordinary that is my point.

Ordinary gets you 8th, 9th or maybe 10th not 2 wins in 12.

Good old Collywobbles forever!!

Good to win the ones that count I say.

I hope that all through September (and Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan) the Hawks enjoy the round 22 win that meant nothing for the Pies. The Hawks are the first side to be kicked out of the finals by Freo for almost a decade.

Embarrassing!  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Freo knocked out Melbourne in 2006 :)

Let me rephrase Ossie.

Imagine in the entire history of the AFL/VFL to be only the second club knocked out of a final by Freemantle.   :'( :-* :'(

MarkPlow

no one will ever remember the fact that we were the 2nd side to be eliminated by fremantle that's a ridiculous fact. 2nd place never sticks in people's minds
