Looking at bringing in a premium mid, is it time to lock in Selwood or wait next week for Swanny?

S_Coach99

Yes. I had Selwood from the start. Wish he didn't go down because I could've waited....oh well, he's a gun - get him

elxam

With Ablett out he had one good week in the last 5 against the all mighty Tigers.

Is he on the way up yet ? Maybe.

Bluke

Agree with Elxam. He shouldn't be judged soley on last weeks performance. Could well be back but id give him another week at least.

thornz23

disagree with u sorry bluke i dnt think he needs to prove himself by putting back to back scores together.. he is a proven star and dt scorer, he has bottomed out, definately time to get him in.

Bluke

No doubt a Premium.. But I want to see him score like that with Ablett back in the team. The ~88 avg. he has displayed so far (not including last week) isnt enough to make it into my Dreamteam.

S_Coach99

I had him last year with Ablett in the side, he gets his tons with or without Ablett I reakon...he has started slow this year.

Bluke

I'm a firm believe in last year being last year, and this year being this year.

Gameplans change, positions change, roles change...

thornz23

but last year selwood was a slow starter aswell  and ended up with an avearage of +100. IMO he will do the same again this eyar and if u can pick him up for 380k thats an absolute bargain

Gotta give him one more week to see if he can sustain that form even when Ablett is playing. As Bluke said gameplans change, so when Ablett is playing he may not see so much of the ball.

Also remember they were playing the Tigers!

thornz23

well i mean... ablett was playing all of last year... i think we know selwood can perform even with abblet batel corey n ling in there with him

Bluke

No doubt thornz.. My only concern is can he perform well enough to fill a spot in my midfield. An avg of 88 isnt enough to do that.

I already have Ball and am restricted in trades so the only other players I want to add are genuine 110+ avg. players. Your team may be different.

Boomz

you have to give him another nweek to prove himself against better opposition than the tigers and also see how he goes with Ablett back. I think there are better options at the moment...

t-rent

his breakeven is 68 so he should get that. I reckon this will be his lowest price. I'd look at getting him this week

You might be right t-rent, but what if he scores 70, and then averages about 85-90?? Was it worth the trade, I would say no. With a player like Selwood, you'd want him to average higher, so wait another week.

He will more than likely rise in price, but at least you'll get an indication as to whether the trade will be worth it!
