Averaging apporx 1915.
Used approx 8 trades, and have about $140k in the bank.

Thinking of doing some trades to get more from my backline.
Looking at Hodge, and maybe even Chad Cornes.

Any suggestions, tips, comments?

I suggest you look at Hodge or Enright, Chad Cornes is a bit inconsistent unless youre wanting 60s. Rest of the team looks solid enough for you to not have to use trades for a while and save em for when injuries pop up.

Possibly Naitanui to Cox or Macintosh might be worth looking into aswell if you have the cash

Awesome Mids, servicable Rucks and Forwards, but terrible Backs.

Try and work Hodge and Enright into your team, or even Hargrave when you think he's ready.

Initially i was looking at Hodge, but realise if i grab him I'm unlikely to have suffieicent cash to do a second trade. In your opinion, would it be better to grab Hodge now and then look at another player in 1-2 weeks time, or maybe go Enright and Hargrave straight up?

currently you have only three premium keepers down the back and the others, barring your  bench, have been servicable but nothing to crow about, especially Schoenmakers and Krakouer, which I can't see any upside.

As you've already used 8 trades in the first 6 rounds, this leaves you with very little to move.

I'd like to say hold on to your trades, but whatever you do that back line will come back to haunt you. So, if you have to take a punt then I'd say wait for at least one more week for either of your midranged/rookies to matute and get Hargrave and/or Hodge. That means you get Hargrave now or later doesn't not make any difference, because your rookies/mids would have gone up in price at the same time Hargrave increases his, all things being equal.

Note that 3 of your midranged have pretty good job security so take that into account when you do your trading.

Of course, if in doubt, don't trade yet if you are not forced by injuries.

thanks for the good info.

if adding Hodge i think i'd struggle to upgade any else.

what do you think of:
i have 142k in the bank
Schonemakers (218.7K) for Hams (123k)
Mcguire (239k) for Gilbee (393k) (any any other suggestion)
then bank 83.7k

then look to next week and use  Krakour (296k? )+ my banked cash to pick up another premium back.

I know this would take me down to about 9 trades, but it will do me for a while... baring catastrophic injury, as even most of my non-scoring players are getting games at this stage also.
