I watched the Hawks Vs Bombers game last Saturday & the Hawks were in the hunt up til the end of 3/4 time. However, they waved the white flag in the last quarter. This would no doubt frustrate passionate Hawks supporters.

Some outcomes from this game are that the backline is undersized, fragile, doesn't have much dash & shaky disposable, middies got well beaten on the night, there is only one fit ruckman, there were only four goalkickers,  there was a lack of crumbing forwards if a mark was dropped & the Hawks are SOFT. If they play like this against the Eagles, then the Eagles will thrash the Hawks.

There are not many players that are safe to play next round. The ones that I think are safe are:
Hodge, Franklin, Young, Sewell, Mitchell (If fit), Bateman, Renouf (not because of ability, but because only fit ruck), Guerra.

The players that I think that should be dropped to the 2's are:
T Murphy, Ladson, Ellis, Roughead, Osborne, Whitecross, Lewis (because of lost confidence from Harbrow bump).

Replacement Players:
Peterson, Dowler, Muston, Lisle, Breust, Curnow, Hooper.

The question is will the Hawks match committee have the balls to drop some underperforming players & give some youngsters a chance to prove themselves.

Brilliant. Keep JKT in!

I like Ellis though, reckon they should try and play him into form.

Big_Cox14

Yeah, I like JKT too. He's a big-bodied midfielder who used to play in the WAFL for quite a few years. He has a good kick too. I think the Hawks need to keep him in the side at the moment. Hopefully, the Hawks match committee keeps JKT in this week.

Fletch74

Being at the game on Sat night I didn't see much from JKT. With Mitchell back this week his position is in doubt. It depends on how well Peterson, Moss, etc played for Box Hill.

The others that might be considered from what I saw would be either Ladson, Whitecross, Stratton or Shiels. That's the only way JKT will stay in the side IMO.

Dowler should be brought back in. One of those few hawk players i like. Can play either CHF or CHB. Certainly need him down back. Murphy made some comical errors at times but with the lack of defence, can see why he is still in the side. Lisle or Dowler should be brought in to help down back.

Lewis won't get dropped but Roughy might. Didn't show any commitment to the footy and was lazy half the time. Didn't crash the pack and let Fletch run off him.

Boomz

Dowler should come in they really need him down back. Roughead looked really lazy and as if he didnt want to be there and should get dropped.

Just to clarify my rant, these are players that I think SHOULD be dropped this week. That doesn't mean that they WILL be dropped.

You can't drop that many experienced players on a bad performance.

Big_Cox14

It's not like some of the players have performed poorly in one match. Some have performed poorly in the last 3 rounds. It may help them to go back to basics & get some much needed confidence back. Plus if some of the youngsters are playing well, why not give them a go. It's not like the Hawks will make the eight this year, based on current form (1-5).

Did you see Roughead? He was just plain lazy. No second efforts, no crashing the packs (at least kosi does) and didn't take the game on when he had the chance. Has to pick up his game or else i think i'll go down to hawks nest and give Clarkson some advice ;D

Big Lance

Curnow?

I was at the game and i was disgusted that i had travelled by 14 hours by car to see my team play like that.

Murphy, Ellis, Birchall, Ladson, Roughead, Lewis, Whitex gone. Birchall is playing crap which is a real surprise for me and a big dissapointment but there are some problems at the club that need to be sorted out.

In should be Hooper, Mitchell, Burgoyne (if available) Dowler, Lisle, Muston, Breust, Moss.

It hurts me to say it cos ive always liked his endevour and his willingness to give everything but Murphy should not play for Hawthorn again.

valkorum

Drop them all and play the box hill side (I think box hill is the reserves side - correct me if I am wrong)

No wait..... drop them all except for Hodge - cos I have him in my DT

Hodge has been a superstar this year. Not getting much attention either.

HintT

Its funny.  Where did all these opinions on Hawks players suddenly pop up?
