1. Watson
2. Stanton
3. Fletcher
4. Monfries
5. NLM

SCADDICT

Think Watson just beats Fletcher. Fletcher is better then all those others you named JSelwood14, Stanton is a bit of a stat king.

I think after Saturday night (I know it was the Tigers) but I think that Hille should maybe take that 5th position. He is really getting back into some great form, both in the ruck and down forward.

Well from my point of view here's how it goes-
1. Fletcher (but only just)
2. Watson (so close to 1)
3. Pears
4. Hille
5. Stanton
Reasoning- Fletcher, the leader of the Essendon backline and plays a HUGE role. Without him Pears would still be taking no.1 forward but Fletch always cuts across to take pressure off Pears and without that Pears would be conceding a lot of goals. Brings experience and a calm head to the team, which is important is such a young squad
Watson, the general of the midfield. Without him we wouldn't be winning much of the footy out of the middle. He has improved his disposal and he is vital to Essendon and our midfield would collapse without him.
Pears, the future, Fletch as good as he is won't be around forever and allows Fletch to play a more attacking role. Takes the no.1 forward every week and I can see him developing into one of the best and most damaging full backs in the comp.
Hille, our best ruck, as good as Ryder was after Hille went down last year his body broke down in the run home, Hille wins a lot of the footy and puts physical pressure on all around the ground. Takes marks kicks goals, and frankly without him Essendon are not nearly as good.
Stanton, don't really rate hid disposal but purely for his run and the amount of the pill he gets he gets a spot. A good outside running midfielder and although to some extent the arrival of Prismall has taken away from his importance still critical to the run and carry of the Bombers.
Monfries coming in 6th nearly stole a spot.

No Vander Haar or Billy Duckworth???

They would still get a game I reckon. Would fit right in next to Fletch!

Fletch74

Just like Lou Richards would get a game with the rotating Collingwood midfield. He actually would get more minutes than Swan and Ball...

At least he's good enough to keep up with the game. Very good effort from a 35 yr old. In the speed of the game I'd like to see a pies player play 18 seasons past 35.

It's amazing that at the age that Fletcher is at he is still considered one of Essendon's best, and I certainly rate him in Essendon's top five too.

However, that brings me to the question.... does the fact that Fletcher seem's to be playing so well say more about the team he is playing for or does it say more about the man himself?? Would he get a game in any other team in the comp, such as teams like Geelong and St Kilda at the moment??

I personally think it say's more about Fletcher himself, and I think that he would certainly be a contender to get a game in any other team in the comp.

Justin Bieber

Bet you if he played for Geelong, would get games every week 8).

That would be scary.... Scarlett and Fletch :o :o.

He'd get a game for anyone. He is very good at what he does. Not many for Essendon who would though, Stanton wouldn't, Watson probably would, Hille would but only because top teams don't have rucks...

Ryder would. Pears would as well now I think. Hurly would be considered for most and Gumby would be close.

I like how flippantly I somehow turned this into a Fletch thread. Don't get me wrong I rate the guy.

Imagine if you had kept the 18 Danihers as well.

I wish Darcy would start being more like his dad and uncles  >:(

Darcy is the Chris of the next generation.
