Jumping on Players Early

Let's wind our minds back 2 rounds. Jonathan Brown was one of (can't remember where he ranked) the highest averaging players in SC. Everyone jumped on him...and now, 2 rounds later, her delivers 2 puny scores of 81 and 39  :o. In my opinion, this is a prime example of jumping on players just because they have a few stellar rounds and then them delivering terrible scores  ;D (Although I think he'll bounce back)

Thoughts, comments and any other players that may have had a few good rounds and then totally let you down.

Yeah, we've seen it all before... bit different in this case as Jonno is a premium. Should have been on him from the start, or been off him. However, the dramatic increase in "Jonno owners" can largely be attributed to the Riewoldt injury in this case.
Ride the storm guys and gals... traditionally, forwards more than any other position on the ground, have greater inconsistencies. Jonno WILL come good.

I think most people had johnno from the start, the big one to me this year is Seaby, great first 2 rounds and then after everyone got on boat he started spudding it up

Better keep my mouth shut before i say something i don't mean :-X

He was in fine form and lots of people thought he would continue as the lions had been in hot form. Brown is more or less a KPP and expect him to be up and down to some extent. The only thing about not having him, is that he is a good upgrade option for my cash cows in 3 rounds ;D

I didn't have Brown to start with but where else do you go when Roo was injured?  Premium forwards in good sides and with durability (Brown missed one game 07-09) are pretty hard to come by.

That said he could barely move tonight and probably shouldn't have played.

exactly why i went fr chapman (hopefully he doesnt get <50 now) instead of trading reiwoldt for someone purely because of a few good games i went for the more proven sc performer! another case is cyril rioli.. sure he looks like he's improving but everyone jumped on afer ONE good game

elxam

brown has always been my upgrade target so eventhough Roo was injured I got brennan instead
early days but that was the srategy

Tell 'em they're dreamin'!

I traded him in as replacement for Tippet after round 2.  I don't regret it one iota and its given me easily 100odd points already.

supercoachheroes

so he should have given you 100 points you had to spend 100k extra

He scored 39 this week because he is no-where near match-fit and i don't think he looked right last week either, lucky to get 80 after that first half. I think he will  score well again if he gives in to the injury and goes and gets surgery. What I'm scared of is his BE was 144 and he scored 39 :S

If it's a hernia problem it's going to be a long 4 weeks ahead for Brown owners (I dumped him for Podsiadly this week).

Why? You paid top dollar for him, He should of been a keeper :o.

Mayne to Brown likely in a few weeks (or Davis) 8)

I did not choose Johnny from the start or Roos. I chose what most of you call really really risky players. Some payed off some did not. But I also got to see the guns of last years performances over a few rounds before deciding to pick them.
I chose Judd on the bench in round 1. I know he had an awesome year last season but. He is still growing in my opinion. I could not deny Judd bench for three rounds.

So whilst I chose cheaper players for my round 1. And left a lot of cash in bank. I was not prepared to pay top dollar for premiums when I did not even know if they were going to survive this year.

So many elevated seniors from last year that are now in their second years are really making headway. I mostly chose on accuracy and efficiency for my SC. Those players that did not do so well as uniques STILL raised in price. Giving me time to notice Browny and Roos just were not in the pickings.

Through this waiting time I watch the drive in the players game. I read comments and interviews on these players and who they most like to play with(rookies).

If a senior player that has been in their team for quite some time and gradually peaking says 'I LOVE SUCH AND SUCH PLAYER!' I take this on board.
Why? Because it means they have faith in them and are more likely to pass the ball and I rack up more possessions.

bloody hell, what year did browny average 140 for that massive half season???  he's prob just sore, has had some big games and the grounds are still bloody hard from the weather - if he wasn't right to go and didn't think he could make a contribution he wouldn't of played. just having him out there is a massive contribution to the lions as he prob has the most pressence on the field in the AFL. so he scores a couple of low ones?? thats the nature of being a forward, he prob wanted to play thru to get his match fitness right up even despite being sore. i traded him in for roo after he went down, got no concerns with browny, if he misses a few games so be it - he aint going anywhere. i don't think he is a good example of jumping on players early as he is one of the best in the comp. there are however a fair amount of others ppl jump on early but time will only tell if its the case - bit early to conclude if a player has been a miss fire atm in the season. i think a few swannies would be tempting atm but i don't think they will (all of them) hold. they've got a fair few consistent perfromers the swans tho - i like jude bolton, but doesn't appear to have a high ceiling...  also that mcveigh, a few may drop off from this team...
