Just looking at a few B.E for a lot of the cash cowing rookies and some are starting to creep up, especially that of a very popular picks Martin (32), Barlow (43), Gumby (21) and Hitchcock (17). Here are the B.E's of all the rookie priced players:

Martin:             32
Trengrove:       13
Scully:                6
Nason:            -16
Farmer:            -4
Bail:                 -50
Colyer:            -75
Melksham:      -27
Gumbleton:      21
Bastinac:         -44
Jetta:                 3
Schmidt:          -71
Lucas:             -77
Warnock:          2
Rockliff:           -91
Banfield:         -14
Maguire:          -8
Moles:            -15
Stratton:        -37
Peterson:         2
Podsiadly:     -143
Duncan:          -25
J. Trengrove:    6
Hitchcock:        17
Barlow:            43
Silvani:            -9
Morabito:         9

Some serious thinking about the first of the calf culling will have to be done next week. Martin needs a good performance this week otherwise his B.E. would probably suggest he will be the first to go, and the same goes for Gumby and Hichcock.

The interesting one now is Barlow, who's B.E is quickly starting to pay due to his massive scores in the first few rounds of the year. As a result, he's B.E has rapidly risen with some true rookie like scores (mind you still reasonable for a rookie). If he has another week or 2 of scores around the 70-80 mark we could be facing the prospect of it being a 50-50 as to whether he will B.E each week. If, however, he comes out and scores two 100+ in the next 2 weeks then his B.E will again become irrilevant.

What are your blokes (and women) thought's on when you will start your culling going by these B.E's? Still a few weeks away are are you begining to get them lined up?

more or less, i have $250k in bank, and may be trading sheuy out this week for lucas... i dont think i will require all that much $$$ to upgrade my cash cows as i will let them increase in price for the next few weeks and take it 1 round at a time.. especially with all the injuries happening.

valkorum

There is definitely some more milking to be done on the cash cows.  Shuey is an interesting one because not sure about the length of his injury (initially said indefinite, now says 2 weeks) and he has only gone up $45k - not really in the realm of money gained I like for my cash cows.

elxam

keep an eye on Ashton Hams from WCE next week

valkorum

Hams is playing his second game this week - bubble next week

Mish

be interesting how he does, also cunnington should be playing his first game this week... and maybe dennis-lane will get a chance, still lots of cash cows to make money on througout the season.

valkorum

Plenty of cattle to choose from this year.  Wouldnt it be funny if everyone wastes a trade on Hitchcock/Gumby to PODS and then PODS doesnt play again for the year.

Mish

lmao!! i really hope that happens.. although he could turn good but your right, his spot is no way guarrentied... hitchcock and gumby should play just about eveyr game this year, plus they play for crappy teams who need them more than cats needs pods.

valkorum

Not many teams go with 3 genuine talls forward these days and the Cats definitely havent over their time at the top.

elxam

pods only need to get no goals this week and his spot is in jeopardy  whereas Gumby's still playing after his 17 point game, and 30, and 40, ... Hitchcock's similar

Martin's head is definately on the chopping block. Particularly in D/T he is just to handball happy.

Hams, yeah I got my eye on him, but what about Davis? Didn't see the Adelaide game? Did he look good, he got a decent SC score for a 1st game,

Hams looked good, needs a couple of games to settle though, he just dash in here or there but what he did do was good?

Hams will get game time I think, but may need a few games to get some half decent sc scores.

So How did Davis look? and How many games do you think he'll get?

Yeah me too, im going to give it 1-4 weeks depending then I'm looking at bring in Judd, but yeah depends what his break even looks like next week and weather or not Judd scores another freak score to make his price price even more....

Hopefully Judd will get a medium score and Martin will get a decent score to bring the two closer together.

I think the culling will start in a wek or two, although with the really good quality of rookies that are currntly playing who are producing good scores such as Barlow, Bastinac, Silvani, Maguire, Pods and Rockliff I don't think there's any reason to go too hard too early if they are still being selected.
With Martin's modest sort of scores compared to his other rookie mates and his what seems to be good security in the badly performing Richmond team, maybe he could be a bit of a Gumby of the mids and one that you just look at holding onto all season simply as cheap back-up on your bench?? He has only risen in price by $47k and given that his B.E is at 32 he isn't going to rise too much further unless he has some really decent weeks. How much would you want him to earn before he has done his job and you can really seriously look at culling him?? I'm not too sure if I would trade him before he rose by $80k, and is he doesn't get to that point then he may be on my bench all season if he is going to get a game week in week out.

With Martin wait till his BE is similar to his average Then pull the trigger.
