For future reference ...

Starting Team:

Goddard Hodge Waters Maguire Silvagni Hunt McMahon Hurn Nason
Ablett Dal Santo Barlow Pendlebury Bastinac Martin Trengove Jetta
Sandilands Jolly Prato Lobbe
O'Keefe N. Riewoldt Pavlich Ziebell LeCras Hitchcock Tippett Warren Roberts

Trades:

ROUND 20
OUT Webberley ($272,900) IN Newman ($490,600) Newman had been going great, and chose this round and the next to go quiet. Was it the opposition? I had stopped checking out the fixture for match ups by this stage.
ROUND 19
OUT Podsiadly ($395,300) IN Riewoldt ($438,000) Compulsory trade. Good trade.
ROUND 17
OUT McMahon ($380,200) IN Smith ($100,200) McMahon was robbed of his role by Rawlings. Smith did his job really well.
ROUND 15
OUT Brown ($390,000) IN Didak ($482,900) Good trade.
OUT Barlow ($565,900) IN Simpson ($466,500) Compulsory trade, Simpson had already done his bet work though.
ROUND 14
OUT Maguire ($361,000) IN Shaw ($404,200) Good trade
OUT Kreuzer ($391,200) IN McIntosh ($369,200) Compulsory given I screwed with the early ruck trade.
ROUND 13
OUT Bastinac ($343,500) IN Judd ($602,200) Good trade.
ROUND 12
OUT Howlett ($327,800) IN Gysberts ($129,200) Fail. Sucked in by Gysberts price potential. Howlett came back even better.
ROUND 11
OUT Hunt ($345,100) IN Enright ($486,900) OK trade.
ROUND 10
OUT Waters ($341,500) IN Gilbee ($499,900) Waters coulda stayed, Gilbee fizzled and wasn't really the value pick.
ROUND 9
OUT Silvagni ($245,200) IN Webberley ($94,200) OK trade.
OUT Trengove ($351,500) IN Rohan ($154,200) Rohan for mpp saved a few donuts.
ROUND 8
OUT Martin ($302,500) IN Swan ($554,000) Great trade.
OUT Ziebell ($318,900) IN Fyfe ($186,100) Ziebell had to go, Fyfe had already had that first price rise, but was worth it.
ROUND 7
OUT Jetta ($231,400) IN Howlett ($83,400) Great trade.
ROUND 6
OUT Warren ($268,600) IN Franklin ($460,300) Warren had to go, Buddy was a bargain.
ROUND 5 OUT Hitchcock ($158,400) IN Podsiadly ($83,400) Pods was a must have, but Relton out was the better choice.
ROUND 4
OUT Riewoldt ($595,700) IN Brown ($579,500) Brown started on fire - really a bad value choice this early though (Harvey was better).
ROUND 3
OUT Jolly ($493,200) IN Kreuzer ($421,100) shoulda showed faith in Jolly.

Hawka

made the same mistake with relton

I reckon I coulda held Jolly, in hindsight.

Ranked just over 10K for the year. Spent some weeks inside that, and was hoping to finish under 10K. Oh well, there's always next year.

It was a great season, I think I selected and traded better than I have before.

YSCCE won the battle against BF SCE Div. 2 (I was a bit confused about who we were trying to beat). The league finished 5 overall, a pleasing result leaving room for improvement.

Enjoying Mad Monday, ossie?

Yeah, I've worn my Fev apparel to work. Hasn't gone down well

Comments on team
Backs â€"
Served well, made money. Hurn not as good as hoped - injuries hurt there. Nason still in the team at the end hurt. McMahon's injuries, and his job being taken by Rawlings hurt.
Mids â€"
Served well, made money. Getting rid of Jetta earlyish was a good move. Other rookies made heaps or became premium. Happy with my midfield recruits.
Rucks â€"
I should have held Jolly through his rough early patch. Tippett coulda filled in OK, but the forward bench made that hard at times (thanks Relton).
Fwds â€"
Ziebell, Warren, Roberts fail. Tippett less so. Should have made the early trade at round 3 to remove Roberts rather than fiddling in the rucks. Ziebell and Warren may as well have been rookies.

Conclusion
Guns and Rookies for 2011. Hold ruck 2 - form improves and injuries occur. Should not have needed to have ruck problems with this starting side.

Best picks - Goddard, Hodge, Ablett, Dal Santo, Pendlebury, Barlow, Sandilands, O'Keefe, N.Riewoldt, Pavlich

Worst picks â€" McMahon, Ziebell, Warren, Roberts

Cash cows â€" Bastinac,Martin,Trengove

5 lessons learnt -
1. Trust your judgement on R2 for a while longer - have some coverage (Tippett was OK).
2. Get rid of your Reltons at round 3.
3. Guns and Rookies - had at least 2 too many "difficult price" players (Ziebell & Warren, hands up)
4. Trading for "value" is a better strategy than I have used before. Keep working that way, watching FF's SC rollercoaster.
5. Keep at least one trade for round 20. Maybe keep one for R19 too!

Players on each line that 1 would pick first for 2011 â€"
Goddard, Hodge
Ablett, Dal Santo, Judd
Sandilands, Jolly / Mumford (Sydney effect?)
Riewoldt, Pavlich

Good read Pros. Should file it away and read it before 2011 Round 1 lock out
