Right this is my first year at DT and I've blown 3 trades, they were...

T. Dennis-lane to C.Peterson (not playing)
J.Steven to Barlow (no Brainer and not playing)
Hall to S.Brynes (Carnt see Hall getting the stats)

All my bench is playing well apart from Lobbe as he has not played yet, but Sandi and Hille should be sweet.

I suppose my question is so many people go on about not wasting trades but if your like me and just stuffed a few up. Is it that bad, I carnt see me trading apart from injuries now. But I have no idea about how many injuries to expect....

So have I stuffed it up??? ;D

nah mate its not essential to keep trades i have blown two with in danger out hall and in brown out gia so really not too bad. goood trades too just make sure you save enough for finals :)

Only really agree with the Steven-->Barlow one, the others aren't bad, but not great trades IMO

Yeah I think Hall was a bit pre-mature. The Peterson trade was because I had Pod and Dennis-Lane on the bench not playing and Gumbleton playing av after Rnd 1. So thought I better get Peterson in for cover.

i have used 3 trades too, i see them all worth it

JKT > Barlow (Barlow being a freak and JKT limited games)
Jolly > Seaby (Jolly playing bad/Seaby playing well and can be used to  upgrade later)
Tippett > ROK (Tippett playing bad and ROK freaking it plus it is a trade i dont have to upgrade later)

If they are upgrades to keepers it should be fine, my only none possible keeper in that trade is Seaby but i still think it will be worth it

It's not bad at all... This website is great but if we all listened to what everyone had to say we'd all have the same team!!! I've already made 2 trades to what I feel is for the betterment of my team - I traded J. Hunt to A. Silvagni and R. Hargrave to B. Goddard... I agree with Benjy... If you're trading to keepers or to make money... go for it!

yeah not a major problem. probably would have kept hall though, he definately has a lot of improvment in him based on his first 2 rounds.
injuries were a big deal last year, with so many big name playes going down, so it really depends on luck. if you can take a minimum of 5 trades into the finals you are doing well.
iv been lucky so far with relton getting a recall this week. i am going to try and hold off trading untill round 6 when hitchcock and nason hit their peak

Must admit I didn't realise DT went past round robin and into finals!
What a womble  :P

I haven't needed to use any trades yet, but can definitely understand your reasoning for trades if you have chosen a player who's not playing or not playing well and trade out for one who's killing it.

I Agree with the first two trades
QuoteT. Dennis-lane to C.Peterson (not playing)
J.Steven to Barlow (no Brainer and not playing)

Not so sure about the Hall trade though. Not saying that it's bad. But I think that the Hall trade is a bit premature and that he's due to kick a bag of goals soon. However, you've got your reasons for that trade and that's fair enough too. Bear in mind that injuries will play a role during the year and you will want spare trades available to avoid donuts later in the year. Best of luck.  :)

Hall will come good, i'm sorry but you burnt a trade.

Flame

You shouldn't have burnt 3 trades this early and why do so many people not have BARLOW!!??

Hold your trades!!

grum88

Bwah hahahahahahaha!
Thank god for people like you who help me climb the ranking s every week! 3 trades down b4 round 3!?!?!??!?
Sorry dude but thats just fvckin funny!

The finals are still part of the 22 rounds, with the Grand final (for your league) being played on round 22.  So in terms of planning trades, it's only for the 22 rounds.

First year playing is about learning.  Kenny Rogers said it best; "You gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, know when to run".

If you started with gaps in your team, burning trades early can pay off (getting on players before you can't afford them)...but it's likely you'll have to choose when you'll wear some pain in order to preserve trades for the last quarter of the season.  That's the hardest discipline to learn in the first year... or 2 (was for me anyway).

Good luck and have fun!

Mish

from experience you should have 6 trades left coming into the final if your aim is to win the league.

Cicjose

now everyone will need to make a trade this week with Riewoldt tearing his hamstring off the bone against Collingwood in tonight's game. so 4 trades used in 3 weeks = bad first team IMO
