Was it a different pitch? I noticed that in a friendly match. Played exactly the same team, ranking dropped by 3k from a Crumbling pitch to a Flat pitch...

Rest your players if you can't win, don't change the training unless they've just popped in something you want them to pop in, and you can afford a week of rest training.
