I'm in, completely new to this, and am left awestruck at the complexity in this game! Should be fun :)

Re. First training. I've mostly looked at what skills my lads are best at, and just upped them. Also taken "talents" into consideration. Sound good? I dunno.

PowerBug

Most of the starter players given to new squads aren't worth anything, so it is probably best to fire them slowly and start buying younger (20-22yo) players for very cheap. As a rough guide, reliable/reliable batting or bowling and technique along with endurance, fielding, experience around the reasonable mark for a 20yo. Add one level on everything for 21 and 22yo's.

It is complex, but you'll soon be addicted to it. :P Welcome to the dark side. :D

Anyone keen on getting into the u19 NAT scene?

Stevens to Pearsall : A moment of madness from Pearsall and one to treasure for the scorers as they note it down; Pearsall out handled the ball! He got right in behind that delivery, defending it into the ground. It bounced back towards the stumps and Pearsall flicks it away with the back of his hand.M. Pearsall handled ball 39 (37b 3x4 0x6) SR:105.41

Ugh, youth spuds  ::)

Commentary means nothing stew - I don't even bother to read it. Let's say the game calculates a wicket, they take a random piece of commentary and stick it in. Same for all things like dot balls etc

Usually people are a lot more active and helpful when someone new joins the game, but this forum has been pretty dead recently  :P Be sure to post any questions you have though...

Good to see you joining the game Stew! Follow the advice above, buy some decent young players and take some time to get to know the game and build a squad.

And yeah, post any questions you've got, someone is always around to answer them.

Could an upset be brewing for HP tonight against me?

T. Curry 8-0-56-1, N. Angus 107 (116b), T. Sanjeewani 0 (0b)
End of over 40 (7 runs) - Hello(203-2) RR 5.08

Only took 2 wickets, with 1 on the final ball of the innings despite it being an uneven pitch and me playing 1 fasty and 2 FM's!

OH NO!!

B. Dickson 1-0-5-1, J. Adriaans 1 (3b), R. Davidson 0 (4b)
End of over 2 (5 runs) - Billy Goats CC(6-1). 198 runs required from 38 overs. RR 3.00 RRR 5.21

Managed to post my highest youth ratings with all the players being trained in my academy. Pretty happy with the results. Not as good as some but I'm enjoying it

Just found the transfer market...  8)  Fingers crossed...

Plus have played two matches, a Twenty20 which I won by 5 runs (needed 10 off last over, they got 5 and a wicket) and then my youth team smashed the opponent with a 200 run victory in a 40 over match :) This is fun

So HP didn't get the upset, but it was closer than I expected it to be. Ended up winning by just 4 wickets, with 4.1 overs to go.

Pretty much what PB said when improving squad. Look at 19 y.o's if you're on the Transfer market now, should be getting quite alot of them being put up as they turn 20 in the new season :). Welcome aboard Stew!

Nice wins!! Try not to be deterred if you start losing games when you go to higher divisions facing real teams, just have to start building your squad and it'll work out. If you ever need any help, this forum is usually great for advice and help starting up and even once you have a solid team. A lot of quality managers from FTP on here! Can always pop me a PM on there if you need anything more :). Game Manual is a very long read but well worth it to understand the game better.

Congratz on the win and locking in the Div 1 title now! My batters put on a fine performance, pretty shocked you weren't able to grab more wickets but both my openers are U19 Nats and my #3 is a future one probably :P. Still put on a great performance and a good match to watch considering that rating deficit :o.

A quick q you guys might be able to help me with:
If I bid on a player, and lose the bidding, do I get back all of the money I put in?
