Haven't bought a senior player in a long time, and don't think I have ever bought an AR, so just want some advice. Is this guy worth 400k?
http://www.fromthepavilion.org/player.htm?playerId=853604
as a long term player yes
I wouldn't pay $400k for that tbh. :-\ The rfs make it feel more like $300k.

^My AR which i got for $244k during EOS. Similar :-\

I saw plenty of spin AR's during EOS that went for below $400k. :-\

Really? The only AR's I found were going for crazy prices!
Your guy isn't really similar, he is a level below in batting, bowling and fielding...

I like to think that he's not far off reli/reli haha. :P Maybe i wasn't looking close enough. $400k should work out. I assume you have more than enough cash for it? Also I have a hatred for spin AR's, coz i don't like them (despite the fact that i have one in my youth squad which should turn out very close to the AR you have there. :O)

Gifted Batting is handy though... I wouldn't say it is a big overpay. ARs are getting more expensive by the day  :-\

Just started playing, main thing im not sure about is the transfer market.
What are you not sure about?

Use your initial money to buy some rel/rel 20yo's then begin investing in your Senior academy. Get that up to a decent level. Don't worry about youths for the time being. More money is made from seniors, so focus on that.
http://www.fromthepavilion.org/player.htm?playerId=846096 I went out and bought this player for $2000, but in general I have no idea which players I should go after how much are certain players worth etc. Also unsure whether I should buy any youth players or whether I should wait for one

Master Q

You need to open him up so we can see him - go to the player and look at the bottom right hand corner of the page and you should see "Reveal Skills".

Also, have you read the in game rules/manual?

TheAnt

Alright that should work now. http://www.fromthepavilion.org/player.htm?playerId=846096
And yeah I have, I might just look at the forums or just scroll through the market for the general gist of it. Thanks

@TheAnt, you may think "I shouldn't need to read the rules" but to tell you the truth they are very helpful, well written out. :)

Another thing to do is just click random pages and read what they are, see where the important pages are. (Club, Academies, Finances) :)

Have fun playing, be patient, and ask any questions you wish on here, most people help. :)

Those are the sorts of players you need to buy, good choice. Reliable/reliable with reasonable/capable fielding (and some more endurance) would be an even better type of player to buy. :) Don't break your bank either, you'll be surprised at how quickly money drains in this game :O

Yeah thanks for that. I'll probably adjust to the market through experience. What's the most expensive players people have picked up?

Players generally go up to a million, every so often a guy guys for a over a million. My biggest purchase is around 700k I think.

Regarding your purchase, he's not bad. Acc/Acc is good for his age (Bat/Tech) although he needs to be trained in Fielding. Fielding is one of the more important skills in the game. I'd try find guys who are Rel/Rel and have around reasonable fielding if you can (haven't checked the market). Also, I see you have made more purchases, post them here and open them up  :)

Most expensive player I bought was: http://www.fromthepavilion.org/player.htm?playerId=240345 on the 11th July, 2011. http://www.fromthepavilion.org/player.htm?playerId=477769 365k for him 6 days earlier. But then a massive drop to like 176k, 131k and 127k for my next 3 most expensive players.

When I first started, bought Rel/Rel players with Average secondaries (and Ordinary experience) for less than 10k each. As the seasons went on, you fill the holes that open up, save some cash to splash on a needed position (e.g. Keeper and a Good bat for me as shown above). However, I also raise my own players which means having a Youth Academy (which eats up cash if you invest alot) so have Rel/Rel players coming through which helps me stay off the market. Certainly a long term plan but avoids the crazy prices players are going for these days (well not the 20 y.o's which are in excess and great time to buy some cheap ones). Can certainly suffice buying 20 y.o's on the market when needed, but need to stick with them long term to reap the benefits of your training!
