Nails you should put any of the guys who aren't up to a certain standard of fielding on fielding training no matter what their spare ratings are. Pretty sure HP must have his players at reliable fielding before he trains other things. For me I try and have them on capable. So maybe for you you should try and get them all to reasonable fielding for now?

Yep, Reliable before I try to train anything else. Youth who promote are usually already Average at the bare minimum, Reasonable for the ones who have a chance :P. Morgan Jr. my lowest fielding Senior at Capable at 20 :P. One more level before turning him into a Bowling Freak FM 8).

What if their primaries aren't very good though? Like Pasuma is only rel/rel and that isn't the standard I want in my side :( ?

Like what are the advantages of training fielding now rather than getting my players up to acceptable primary standards?

It's the route I took. A Level or so less in primaries for extra levels in fielding (About 3:1 ratio of Fielding:Primary in my opinion when training). Means most of my players are either Exp/Exp or Outs/Outs which isn't outstanding but they have caused a few upsets thanks to fielding (last season was Awesome :P). I had Acc/Acc before I trained fielding so rated 140k for quite some time while working fielding. But fielding training slows down with age, so I have tried to train it young and get it out of the way. Also puts less pressure on wages in comparison Primary pop would cause. Fielding isn't treated as valuable which it isn't, but is good for long term if you are to stick with your players.
