I'm not convinced on Ziebell, Rich, or Sidebottom getting sufficient numbers (games especially but averages to some extent) to justify selection.

Need 86k bench players who will play games and score quite well.

Sidebottom is sitting on my midfield bench and I'd rather him not be, unless Pies fans or anyone else can convince me of keeping him.
My 6th and 7th mids are Anthony and Beams which rules them out.
West Coast fans what's the story with Tom Swift as he is a candidate?
How do you think guys like Swift, Robinson, Steven, and Davenport will go early in the season? More games than Sidebottom?
My current Beams/Sidebottom midfield is a two-bob each way. But assuming not more than 1 can play at once then it means 1 cash cow instead of 2.

Forwards now. I also have Yarran, but I have him on field believing that Carlton need him for 18+ games..but his pre-season, fitness etc have some question marks. Any advice? I already have chosen Walker and Hentschel as backups because I believe they will play plenty of games.

What do people think of Simon Hogan's prospects (in 06 and 07 Geelong managed to have first year players play 18+ games - Selwood and Varcoe in 06, and Taylor in 07)?
Mitchell Brown is an 86k player, but is he a dream team prospect at all? Not much point picking a guy who will average 40 and be in and out of the side...
Wade Thompson (games concerns), Gumbleton (injury concerns), Ballantyne (injured) are 3 other candidates....hardly tickle my fancy though.

i wouldnt start sidebottom... not sure if he'll play round 1 and mite be worth downgrading to at a later date.

tom swift looks like he'll get games this year but not sure bout round 1 too... alot of west coast players coming back from injuries and look ready for round 1 decreasing his chances of a round 1 start.

not sure on yarran and hogan... yarran looks like hes more ready to play tho

brown should be good and will get games
thompson still has to be elevated
gumbleton looks risky with his injury
and not sure when ballantyne will return..

I know this sounds weird but to some extent I'm not worried about Round 1 selections (obviously as long as I have 22 on the park which is already a certainty). I've done the maths for the past 2 years and on average guys who debut in Round 1 don't play any more games or average any higher than guys who average in rounds 2 or 3.
I know it's nice to get a cash cow piling up early as possible, but if you get your guy selected in round 1 and he plays a scattered 5 or 6 games all season then you'd regret being so worried bout round 1.
I'm probably most wondering about who will get the most points in the first ~7 games of the season out of the midfielders mentioned and the forwards mentioned.

EDIT: added poll. No Beams, Anthony or Walker because I have those 3.

word on balantine is round 2-3 mich browns dt score in the derby nab chalenge was 70 after he started on pav and will play round 1, i really like swift but no way he will play unless injurys mount up i think 8 games tops.

With the captains' poll revealing Daniel Rich is their favourite to win the Rising Star I'm beginning to think I should squeeze him in. Scores of 64 and 62 in his last 2 NAB Cup games, about 40 for the first two, no idea about TOG.

Fantasy Freako names him as this year's Rhys Palmer. What I'd love to know is what Rhys Palmer scored in the 08 pre-season games. Anyone know??
I had him from the start of 08 (but I did not know about fanfooty or Fantasy Freako so it was not based on stats).

Here are Rhys Palmer's (surprising one might say) 2008 Pre-Season NAB Cup Scores. Nab 1. 46, Nab 2. 42, Nab 3. DNP, Nab 4. 21. Average 36

Why did so many people pick Brown???

Highly rated by the Eagles. 15 in beep test. Play forward or Back. Injury to Hunter makes him a must start.
