For the people who want to post a thread about trading a player after only round 1...

There is only one reason why you should trade ANY player after round one. They are on the long term injury list. Thats it. (Maybe suspended for 6 - 8 weeks as well, but no players got that this year)

The main 2 thing you are going to trade a player for is inconsistency, or consistent low scores. The main thing about consistency or inconsistency is that you really need more then one result to have any idea about a players consistency.

If your thinking about trading a player after round one, DONT. at least wait till round 2...prices still wont change, so your not losing out and remember 2 important things about fantasy football.

1. Trades are like gold. Dont use them unless they are going to be advantageous.

2. The season is a marathon not a sprint. You would rather be leading in the second half of the year then the first.

Well i took the risk on Robbie Gray and port are now talking about a round 4 return !!!! I have Gumby for cover but we all know what he scored in round 1. I will wait till after round 2 to see if Gumby can improve as cover but otherwise I might have to pull the pin. Anyone else in the same position ?

Patrician

Yep, I got burned by Gray. And had Rockliff as my emergency  :o...seriously bad.

If he's out till Round 4 I may seriously consider a trade....

If you have ANY cover he's worth waiting another round 4 so we know a bit more, don't do the PANIC trade.
Gray will score well when he comes back, he's worth waiting for.

tom_scully

Gray is not a premium and is a massive injury risk all year imo. Why would you keep(have) him (at all) when there ar many similar/cheaper options likely to score regular tons.

I rate the form of round one much more highly than Challenge matches. (See Ladson) Therefore, I think it's possible to come out with an advantage by tweaking before prices start to change. You can't just trade for injuries. You also have to pick the best time to trade for quality.

You can wait a long time for stars to play a bad game and then drop weeks later. Or you can by players who are obviously undervalued now. All you have to do is exercise some discipline later on in the season to balance it out.

This is just another rule that discourages the selection of mid-range players.

I have traded one player, i think if you keep it to a minimal so by next week if you need dump out 2 more eg picked wrong kids, u have trengorve, martin,  u may want banner and suey for better returns..... i dropped clark for sandy and hoping for a bulldog revival this weekend which against richmond is liklely, so im sure to be around to 2500+ mark fingers crossed, my other opinion is to have your captain against melb or richmond...... there sure to score high... also waiting for ablett to drop in price and round 3 is my tip....i have 124000 sitting in bank just waiting so i can trade a mitchell or gibbs for him...Im also surprised by fev scoring be sure to keep an eye on him!!! if he kicked straight he would of been top of the lot....

JonnyHart, i never said not to trade players at all unless there injured, im saying wait till after week 2, to see there consistency. One round is not enough information to make a good call.

100% agree Pravis. JH you will waste trades. Price changes are based on 3 rounds, not 1. The first round has very little impact on the season as it only affects the first price rise after Rd 3; Rd 2 has an impact on price changes in Rd 3 and Rd 4 and so on...

You can't make a call after 1 rd!

Pretty much R1 is the least of your worries! I'd only be trading Buchannon if you have him at this stage.

guys......i think if u tweak early and get on bargins youll set yourself up.....the knockers i wonder what you scored???? myself 2316 with all my dogs players chocking from the virus with my one trade of clark for sandy and hopefully the dogs improvement ill be 2500+ so i do think it is needed to trade early if needed.....

browny_wce

sorry no offence mate but to predict GAJ to drop significantly enough to justify a trade in R3 for a prem u already have is a bit of a joke. u got cash in the bank to slide this trade in as soon as possible for a season length player like mitchel or gibbs?? na can't say i rate this tactic. why wouldn't u start with gaz and take a punt on coon dog or ball or something??? waste of trade, and if gazza goes bang bang u will be trying to chase this trade for too long and miss good oportunities to trade for value.

Marky, Im sorry mate, but your trading a premo ruck for another premo ruck. (Waste of a trade) Clarke played a hole game just about in the ruck against Cox and NicNat. He was never gonna put up a big score. But if you wait till round 2 you will see that. If he still goes shower then you can trade him for Sandi after round 2. You will only lose 50pts at most if Clarke has another shocker.

Flower it, You can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink it...I feel like banging my head against a wall sometimes.
