Or am I missing something...

well that is the general plan. my one is to kinda cruise first 4 or 5 weeks then work my trade magic. late in the season i hope for teams to rest their guns (ablett, bartel, hayes, etc) and watch my team let loose.

Prospector if you read this, can you please move it to SC strategy as it looks to be a strategy based post.

Yes, but it is the details of how you plan to do it. Are you going to target specific players, i.e. Judd when he returns in round 4? When are you going to do it, how often? Did you leave some money free to make trades easier? Do you plan to keep certain rookies for the year?

Carltons scores will differ a lot when Juddy gets back

I guess my overall plan is to gain as many keepers as possible, leave the rookies for as long as possible (provided they are making money and not falling down the other side of the apex). Use the least amount of trades as possible, providing there aren't too many LTI's.
I'm keen on getting Judd after round 3, and maybe getting Swan in after rookies make a bit of dosh.
Obviously each position in my team will need a few up-grades, but I will hopefully have selected a good overall spread to get a couple of keepers from the cheaper players.
So all going to plan, I'll have a team of keepers by the finals, with a handful of trades in hand.

My friend, you have just summed up what we are all trying to do.
THAT IS THE AIM OF THE GAME 8)

I have 3 rookies starting, I'm hoping that Hitchy keeps scoring 75's, he'll be my first upgrade as I'm happy with my mid rookies but not forward rookies (starting) I'm hoping Hitchy will come up to 250-300k and I can use another 100k from another rookie to upgrade him to a bottomed out premium, at the moment I'm looking at Gray as I want him but thinking his early scores will be affected by his hamstring.

All goes to plan and I can have only 1 or 2 rookies starting by round 7.

My only plan was not to make trades for the sake of making trades. Last yr I got bored looking at the same team and kept trying to squeeze a little extra out of it... then ran out of trades.

Well Bob, I guess my plan is pretty solid then  :P

my plan is to not make the same mistakes i did last year and learn from the mistakes i make this year for next year!! lol

na think u need an element of luck in this game, but how u trade is the component that separates u. last year i made some silly trades, yea def wasted a few no doubt about it but i also made some very good ones. traded far too often and was out of trades after 1st week of finals (i had one remaining for  few weeks prior to that!!!) however i did end up within top 5k which i was stoked about. last year i had no plan, was my 1st season of having a real crack and i wish i had a bit of structure in relation to how i was generally going to go about it. - ie how many keepers u start with and reflecting that with how many downgrades/upgrades to do and how many trades left over for LTI. 1st year i've bought the prospectus and read the entire book - very handy!!!
anyway to answer the question of the post, yea mate i gotta plan, but its just the general amount of upgrading and downgrading i want to do. but u really gotta have good downgrade targets, they'll bob up and i think its when u start your attack. in regards to midpricers??? - i think u either keep if happy or u trade out when a prem is just too mouthwatering to refuse!!!!!

I really do have a plan, last year was just trying to get the best players I could.
This year I have more of an idea of what I want although there is always doubt over everything to some extent. Someone might do better/worse than you'd expected and wrecked and entire 4 trade or double trade plan. Happened to me last year plenty of times.
All I can say is, yes I have a plan, but it's general and there's not much that's definite about it.

You have a set plan if you have the time and are playing Supercoach seriously.
You wing it if you want to have fun, experiment, and don't have the time to take it seriously.

my theory is....to try and organise team asap and cash in on the seabys, waters, ottens, petersons, duncans, martins of the world.... then try and use there cash to obtain cooneys etc  so in other words ive used 4 trades already.... but i improved last week 10,000 overall and hoping for slight improvement again this week.... im hoping zeibell, hall n co step it up and my bottom is still hurting from them the last week.... raped.....

If Barry steps it up then EVERYONE will do well. Number 1 selected player (for now as seems everyone is jumping off him)

ALMAN......im keeping slighty under acheivers but tippett etc are gone from my team, he will drop heavily unless he kicks 7 this week, unlikely as the crows dont have there run of the back line yet due to there injuries
