Round 1..Do not be so quick to trade strategy.

We all have our ups and downs in DT and SC. This is only round 1. What  we make of our teams as coaches from this point until round 3 counts  most. We most likely have chosen well but also put a few clangers in our  teams EEEKKK. What do we do here here in on out? This is the real  question.

If you chose a player you thought would play extremely  well and they did a ditch crap effort in round 1 my advice here is 'DO  NOT BE SO QUICK TO TRADE!' Some players that came out of injury last  year takes these players a few rounds to find their feet.

The  worst thing you can do is trade early thinking 'OMG why did I choose  such n such he did so crap'. Do not despair, if you have faith in your  picks and they are genuine players that score year in and year out, or  are moving forward with each season, keep them in your teams.

Round  one is heavily speculated. Not only when it comes to players but who  they are up against. Take Swans for example vs Saints. BIG BIG round 1  game. A lot of hard ball gets but to no avail. Sydney did not win,  however do not right off those players you stand by.

Each player  has their own individuality, they are in AFL as chosen 22 for a reason.  If coach decides to write of a player because a round 1 performance, I  am mostly talking about rookies here. Then coach is a Tossa IMO. The  rookies first real Debut in front of crowds of 50-70k, they are nervous,  excited, emotions are running high to show they can get the job done.  Nerves take over and they maynot perform as well as we thought. This  does not mean they are a 'write off'

Give all your players in  team a chance to prove themselves until round three at least! Rookies,  Guns back from injury and Draft picks traded etc.

We all deserve  a chance, our players included.

Food for thought.

Even if a player does his knee in round 1, it is STILL better to wait til after round 2 for any trades. You should have the reserves this early in the season, and you'll have better information.

unless something really bad happens I don't plan on touching my team until about round 6-7.

I think a good time to trade is in the first 1 - 3 rounds. Not panic trades because Gia scored a 63 but trades that were thought out and planned. You get an impression of how a player is doing before his value changes.

For instance I got burnt by Bazza, Gia, Tippett and Masten. I'm gonna sub Masten with Shuey next week. Keep in mind that in the first four rounds you arn't versing anyone. The other three should score next week and if Masten still can't lift his game well he'll be out by round 2 or 3.

I dont agree with the early trade.  You are wasting a trade to get a little extra money.  I don't think a trade is worth that.  You only get 20 trades for the season.

Most strategies require about 12 - 14 trades to upgrade everyone to premiums, this only leaves about 6 - 8 trades for wastage/LTI's etc and league final trades.

Solat

if memory serves me correctly Roo scored like 43 in rnd 1 last year, he did alright for the rest of the season

Trades are worth gold..hang on to them..everyone should have coverage at this stage and as long as you aren't getting donuts..why trade yet??
