Round 2

Trades

  • Flynn > Lindsay

Just the one trade to get a rookie correction out of the way with so I'm not faced with too many trades for round 3. With McQualter's comments about the ruck situation I just thought Flynn's status in the team is going to be too unpredictable and thought Lindsay was the safest pick out of all the rookies I didn't have. So the trade so far has been a success.

Review
So probably one of my worst scores in relation to ranking in a very long time. Considering I've been on a steady incline in rank improvement with 852 being my last year's rank, this is rough. However, last season I did blow out to 57,000 after round 2. I had NWM at D2 most of the pre season, however the pre season game was a bit of a put off and I thought with Stewart's new role and how he averaged really well in the back half of last year, it would be a good pick, but the injury has resulted in a 9 and will cost me a trade. I held Perryman just because I don't like going too early on premium trades. I do think Reef going down pretty much booted him out of the midfield, especially because Long was demoted to sub (one of the reason's I held perryman). In hindsight I should have gotten rid of him because there is way too many question marks around his role going forward for him to make enough cash. The captaincy was a disaster. I thought with how Petracca had super high CBA's last week, went at 50% and got tagged and still got to 100, combined with his good history against North it was a safe bet, and also thought Xerri and Gawn would nullify each other. So that cost me 50 points. I also just didn't have that midfielder premium go 120+ like so many had this week.

Round 3 Trades
So considering I'm pretty happy with my rookie choices so far, despite how bad the defence rookies have been, I will be doing some premium corrections.

  • Perryman > Dale

I have the cash off the bat to do this one. Dale was in my pre-season team right up until it came out he was having quad issues, which is annoying. However, he has the role and usage to just go 100+ very easily, and I think can be top 6-8. So he's coming in without a doubt.

  • Petracca > Callaghan

So the reason I've gone down to Finn is because I was hot on him prior to round 1, and watching how he played in the wet against the demons, he looked awesome. He's a great user of the ball too, and tends to drift back into the defensive half to be a part of those link-up plays in transition. I've also gone down to him because it gives me the funds to do the below trade.

  • Stewart > Clark/Sinclair

One stat I saw (after he'd already been in my team), is that Stewart has been injured in-game 6 out of the past 8 seasons, so I wish I'd seen this before I put him in, but oh well. Deciding on who to get, is the hardest part. I do like Sinclair as a POD, but the calf thing does bother me a little, so I think Clark (for cheaper) might be the way to go. I've even thought about NWM, but again, does he end up being top 6-8.

I'd be inclined to move out the guys changing in price. Short is one I'd look at moving ahead of Stewart this week being a best 18 round. It depends if you think he is worth holding at this point or if he will flop. A Stewart to Ryan trade could also be a go for you.

Garcia is going to bleed dollars as well after the vest. Maybe he needs to move this week and you have some flexibility with your DPP options

Trac to Callaghan allows you to facilitate those moves while earning a nice chunk of change with the price rise Callaghan will have. I don't mind that trade in this situation

We essentially have the next two weeks to sort structure out being best 18 rounds. Try and maximise the dollars for your upgrades in the next couple weeks while cutting some of that dead weight
