Boy she's tough out there. 5 of the 6 teams that were 10-2 progress to 11-2, with Rome relegating Pacific down to the 10-3 crew, which Toronto is lucky to be a part of.

That's... pretty much our top 8 now. Still, some hope remains for Rio, but it's feint.

I thought the carnage was supposed to start next week - 3 of the 5 teams sharing 1st place on wins LOST!

Mexico City's shock loss to Christchurch, Buenos Aires' (perhaps predictable) loss to Rio, and Rome's epic loss against Cape Town have shaken up the top 8 in a big way. It allowed Cape Town and (the lucky) Pacific to catch-up and jostle for a top 4 spot, whilst Toronto's shock loss to Berlin was a dream result for Rio, whose season was otherwise likely due to end this weekend.

Take a bow Cape Town and Rio in particular. Clutch performances.

All of a sudden, New Delhi is SECOND! That win buffer on 3rd is huge going into the final 3-super rounds, which pits the top 8 against each other. Anyone could win the minor premiership from here... and maybe the Tigers have the strongest claim to it now?

Meanwhile, the 'race' for the wooden spoon will heat up, with Berlin (I like to think) excusing itself with its upset win over Toronto. Beijing face London in the last round of the year... will that be the match that decides it?

Movement in at station! New Delhi's victory over Seoul now sees it the undisputed leader of the comp, and favourites for the minor premiership!

Seoul is also displaced by Cape Town, who will most likely take the crown if NDT slip-up.

Buenos Aires and Pacific lose a bit of touch out of the top 4 race, and may now by vying for home elim finals.

Toronto seems destined to finish 8th, unless it can regain its form.

3 wins to the bottom 5 teams sees the wooden spoon race gain some traction, with the Beijing v London match still on schedule to decide the spoon... most likely between Beijing and Berlin.

After Round 16

New Delhi passed the Rome test, and will need to beat Buenos Aires at home next week to guarantee the 2024 Minor Premiership! Meanwhile, Seoul (vToronto) and Mexico City (vRome) will need to win and hope for a New Delhi loss to guarantee a home final and the minor premiership.

Cape Town crashed back down to 4th after a 'mare performance, and all of a sudden is a chance to miss the 4 altogether.. and perhaps even replaced by Pacific next week! That Islander victory potentially might change the make-up of the finals completely yet.

Buenos Aires will not make the 4 (pre finals) for the first time in what feels like ages, whilst Toronto seems resigned to 8th, no more feeling pressure from the 9th... who could actually end up being Tokyo!

Beijing very likely receives the spoon next week, but Berlin remains an outside chance.

The end of the Home-and-Away season

And the winner is... Mexico City! Having never held 1st position at any point in the season, the Suns timed its run to perfection with a trio of clutch victories against Toronto, Buenos Aires and Rome to finish the year.

New Delhi were oh-so-close to winning an unexpected (to many) minor premiership, but will still host a qualifying final to cap off a remarkable home-and-away season.

Seoul, despite scoring the most points, finishes 4th, and Rome (2nd highest)... finishes 7th! An incredibly unlucky last two weeks for Rome, who will now need to do it the hard way to win its first premiership.

Pacific flew under the radar to claim 5th, and will now host the Wolves whom returned to form in Round 17.

Beijing receives the wooden spoon, with Berlin close behind them.

Congratulations to the Continent cup winners! New Delhi wins EurAsia, Pacific (somewhat surprisingly) wins AAP, whilst Rome (Europe), Mexico City (Americas), New Delhi (Asia) and Pacific (Africonia) win their respective cups.
