IF YOU DO NOT MAKE ANY SUBMISSIONS, YOUR LIST PREFERENCES WILL BE USED

C/VC model assumed unless otherwise specified.

Thursday night FULL LOCKOUT at 7.20pm AEDST

Gentlepeople, we are back next week!

Kinda...

In the AFLs wisdom of attempting to grow AFL in the harsh soils of Northern Australia, we are forced to make do with the bye mess it causes.

The short of it? AFL Round 0 is not the kick-off for Worlds, but the games most certainly still count. Essentially, they will count for the rounds where those teams have a bye in Rounds 2-6. See below.

For example, Brisbane and Carlton have a bye in AFL Round 2, so the players scores from Round 0 will count for WXV Round 2. Likewise, Melbourne and Richmond AFL Round 0 scores will count for WXV Round 6.

How do we prepare our submissions for Rounds 2-6 weeks in advance?

In this thread, you will each submit a preferential list order of how your players should be selected in your future teams. You will also need to complete this for how your captains should be selected, including whether you will use the C/VC or CC/CC model.

For example, I may submit my list as follows (not official, example only) (you need not list positions, I've included them for demonstration purposes only):

(bold = players in Round 0)

Now, it's Round 6 and Melbourne and Richmond have the bye. Assume Sparrow, Lever, van Rooyen and Dow all played, and Hunter did not. Say too that Lever was subbed out in the 2nd quarter of the Round 0 game.

I am not able to list ANY player in my submission AHEAD or BEHIND the order number of the above players. For example, I am not able to list Mac Andrew ahead of Lever, nor Lever can be ahead of Jayden Hunt.

Because Lever is my 3rd most preferred defender (or 2nd if Cumming is named in the mids), he MUST be named as D3, or D2 if Cumming is named in the mids. It doesn't matter that he is sub-eligible either- he must go on the team sheet.

Hunter didn't play, so he isn't able to be named.

You will notice Dow is my 10th (or 9th if Cumming is named as a defender) most preferred midfielder. Assuming all mids ahead of him played, he must be the 10th midfielder named in the teamsheet. He cannot be moved ahead or behind that designation. He can only be moved ahead if the mids ahead of him are not available in AFL Round 6 only, or if dual-position players play as a non-mid in the starting 4 players in the line-up (e.g. Cummings as a D1-D4).

Emergencies

This interpretation will be particularly relevant for utility and emergency orders. Position is not considered, only list order.

Captains

Now say it's Round 3, and Gold Coast and GWS have the bye. Rowell is my first choice in the leadership group, under a C/VC model. Rowell played in Round 0, so he MUST be selected as my captain. Callan Ward also played in Round 0, and he is my 3rd choice. As before however, I am not able to move any player ahead of his designation or promote Ward ahead of Luke Jackson (my 2nd designation), unless Jackson does not play in Round 3 only. Meaning, if Jackson plays, he must be my VC. If he doesn't, Ward must be my VC.

If you have any questions, please post here. Not discord. As I want everyone to receive the same explanation.

Now, this is going to be difficult for me to administer. I will not be performing validation checks pre or during the round. Only post round 2 through to 6. So please get this right.

Can we be more explicit if we want to? E.g. Can I say that in WXV R2 I want to name Eric Hipwood at F4 (BL bye) and in WXV R5 I want to name James Jordon at F4 (Syd bye), but then in R2 I don't name Jordon and in R5 I don't name Hipwood and I instead name 3 other fwds in each round?

I'll start with the easy part:

Rio de Janeiro Leadership Preference (C/VC model)
Tim Taranto
Jack Viney
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
Brad Crouch
Karl Amon
R0 only has impact in WXV R6 for captaincy so the intention is Tim Taranto will be Captain that week, with Jack Viney VC.

If a player is a green vest are they forced to be named.

Example Will Phillips is Green Vest so ahead of Hollands is Phillips forced to be U2 over Hollands.

Explained in the OP. Green vests will be enforced in team sheet.

You can lodge different preferences for each round, but I would want full list preferences, to eliminate any doubt in interpretation.

The Round preferences must each be submitted prior to Round 0 lockout.

How will Flood/Attack work?

THIS IS IMPORTANT

Golden rule - you cannot know player scores, then tag or rest.

Resting and tagging will continue to apply only to 'unlocked' players. You may rest a player prior to them playing, and tag a player prior to them playing.

If I wanted Tom Sparrow to tag in WXV Round 6, I must nominate him to do so prior to Round 0 lockout. If his opponent does not play in WXV Round 6, then the tag is void.

If I'm playing Seoul in WXV Round 6, and I wanted to tag Clayton Oliver, I must nominate WHO will tag him prior to Round 0 lockout.

If I wanted to rest Tom Sparrow for WXV Round 6, you must nominate him to be rested for Round 5, prior to the Round 0 lockout.

Flood/Attacks will continue to be 'due' prior to each rounds full lockout. I'm aware you could foreseeably adjust your team submission to maximise/minimise known scores, but I want to keep this option flexible to allow teams to cover for unavailabilities in a particular line.

Purple 77

You don't have to bold your players that are impacted by Round 0 - I just did that to help demonstrate examples.

Question my preference list has Taylor Adams listed as 3rd preference.  as we know likely missing first 4 games so do I do an amended list moving Adams down. Assuming I leave as is does that mean I can not get McInerneys score as Adams would be M3.
