Trades were ok but Gawn & Heeney killing me every week, I'm sort of stuck with the byes coming up but I'll have to look at Jordon up to Heeney after the West Coast game. Kind of spewing I picked Flanders but Heeney has broken my season in the past so I felt it was the best course of action.

On the bright side, Fyfe, Billings & Reid all did enough to earn me Tom Green this week, I was sweating after Billings copped the vest but just fell over the line with about 5k to spare.

The downgrade options not great but Darcy & McInnes looking like the best options. This year will be very, very light when it comes to cash generation, I can see plenty of issues down the track. I may even grab Dawson back when he bottoms out, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in defence, Adelaide look too slow with Crouch in there as well.

Bully

And well done to Richmond, Vlastuin in AA form, could be a cheeky POD with only 1.5% ownership.

Brown scored ok but I'm not so sure he's immune to the vest, I'm deferring that decision for another week provided Stewart behaves himself and D'Ambrosio doesn't get injured. You never know in Supercoach, there's always a curveball being thrown.

Poor week scoring 1830, Gawn VC has claimed me yet again and it was something I had feared. Heeney is also killing me in the forward line and has probably made a big enough statement to bring him in. There's the bye but there's also West Coast coming up and he's likely to ton up and shoot past the 600k mark, this might be last chance saloon at a reasonable price. It's definitely locking in a loss but to ignore him could be catastrophic.

I think Darcy is a solid pick, hopefully Lobb doesn't spoil the party but he should get a few more games. I'm grabbing Thomas for a quick 70k, that's with a couple of 50's so the bar isn't too high. I can see Kane Mcauliffe on the horizon who has been excellent in the VFL. I think he gets a game this week so one to keep an eye on.

Overlooking Green might come back to bite but GC have a pretty good midfield and might test him out. BE is 80 compared to Heeney's at 60, that probably tips the scales in Heeney's favour. If having the extra game is more important than cash then Green makes a solid case. I personally think cash is more important at this stage and being priced out of the number 1 forward a clear and present danger.

Next week could see two potential rucks available in the same week, Conway & Naismith potentially nice cash cows. Naismith could be used forward but I would expect some ruck work along the line. Grabbing one of these guys opens up a forward loop which could be handy.

Grundy to Gawn is something I'll be pondering over the week, it won't be cheap but I think it's worth it for the VC scores.

I would personally go with Green or another mid over Heeney, it makes more sense to target Heeney post bye since you have just this week and then the bye.

I did look at Green's next 4 games and it is a pretty tough run. They have GC which means the Rowell/Miller matchup, Saints where he will get Steele/Ross/Windahger and I can see one of them putting in work at the stoppage, the Blues where he will get tagged by Hewett and then the Lions which could see Dunkley go to him. If he is in the next level of mids this year he will still dominate these matchups, but just something to consider that the reward may be in passing on him for the next handful of weeks.

Serong has been excellent and has a decent run coming up, Steele is under 560k and has been scoring about 120 each week. He won a lot more uncontested ball on the weekend than I have seen him win in a long time so he isn't just winning it at stoppages. The Steele option could give you enough cash to pivot Grundy to Gawn the following week when the Swans are on bye.

Bully

I think Heeney being the number one forward is a must, there isn't much else on offer so if he skips past 620k over the weekend it will be difficult to get him in. At the moment he's averaging the same as a mid, he'll be in line for DPP and will be essential in most people's forward line. I'll cop the one week without a heavy hitter because cash is hard to come by this year, 590k for a player averaging 139 looks like fair value, small sample size but he's producing elite midfield numbers.

Mat0369

The Swans might get both Adams and Parker back after the bye. That could change the midfield mix and impact Heeney's scoring as well.

The forward line is thin this year, so I see why you would want to get Heeney in sooner rather than later.

With the DPP options set to drop in a couple of weeks, does it look like any forward options will pop up? Trac is the one that may sneak DPP forward status, not sure about the others

Petracca will be in the mix, he's another who will be very difficult to squeeze in, his price still very high but I suspect if he's a forward after the bye his ownership will skyrocket.

Steele I think is a good pick this year, his price will probably be around 570k, that's still good value for a player averaging 120. He may even be my next target as early as next week, I'll see if I can muster some cash between some of the Swans and Seth Campbell.

Bully

Also worth planning for Elijah Hollands, any score above 70 will make for a compelling case, 279k and could be an excellent choice once McKercher & Roberts depart the midfield.

If you do get Heeney this week and can afford Steele next week that might be your best bet structure wise.

Hollands is one I was thinking about last night and then I looked at his price. He is 276k and has only played North, not sure if I would go there at his price but he may be an okay stepping stone.

Oliver will be sub 500k soon, I'm wondering if he's worth a stab after the bye, something to ponder.

Gawn didn't go nuts so he's still viable next week, along with Steele he's one in the frame.

Sexton to Naismith looking like my first trade, might even go early on a 1 game rookie depending on scores, there could be several options next week.

Ringo

Thought I was the only one considering Naismith - but sound and possibility of DPP as well. Pondering Oliver after the bye as well but Petracca would appear to be the better target.

I was thinking about Oliver last night. He has to come good at some point and he is going to be an easy upgrade target after his bye week. I'd look to get both him and Trac into my side in quick succession, especially if Trac gets DPP.

I don't think Naismith will score very well if he is playing as a pure forward. He needs a Nank injury to really capitalise and make some decent coin. Conway would still be my preference if they both end up on the bubble around the same time, but Conway went straight back out which doesn't bode well for JS. If Naismith is on the bubble next week and has another 70+ score he will be a popular pick

Bully

Kosi selected ahead of Naismith, not sure I would be rewarding mediocrity but I suppose he was recruited for depth. Looking like there won't be any downgrade options on the bubble, that makes things very interesting.

Par week, captaining Heeney would have made a big difference but I didn't want to jinx him, happy I got him in and it now opens a few doors. With Sean Darcy due back I'm trading Jackson into Gawn, the insurance premium no longer required as the Bulldog Darcy destined to become the swingman. There's still a chance Jackson scores well but I would rather sit on the sidelines and see if there's any downturn.

Steele for Grundy seems like a smart move, having a 5 strong midfield critical at this point. I'm going early on Clohesy, I feel comfortable with state league talent and he should get a decent run. Next week Graham for Coffield and perhaps Comben, my player focus next week will be Horne-Francis, I picked him last year and he generally teased but this year feels different.

My cash grab in Thomas bombed, so the returns now closer to 50k, that could still facilitate a sideways to Comben so not the end of the world.

Overall the team looks ok but still lacking a bit of cash generation. I think next week might be the one to clear out some deadwood.

Mat0369

This week is tricky with the byes and not many rookies available, going early may not necessarily be the bad option.

Looking at my team as well, I would like to see some of these bad rookies go but it sucks because they've barely made any coin or they're long term injuries that have made no dollars at all. Dempsey is probably the one we're both missing that's on track to make some really good dollars.

Walsh is due back for Carlton this week, so Carroll is a watch and could be a vest candidate in the next couple of weeks. He is the one I'm probably looking to cull in the next couple weeks.
