Looks like Oscar is due back at the Weagles, that doesn't bode well for Hutchison, it really only leaves Laurie as this week's cheap trade down target.

I really hate the byes, don't want to trade Freijah and would rather punt Aleer, I may do that anyway, very close to tank mode this week, can't win the top prize so may go a man down to keep my preferred personnel. With only 3 trades left keeping Freijah for cover may be the best move I can make, there's absolutely nothing on the horizon either, Schoenmaker the only player I'm keen on but he's on the wrong line.

This is my preferred option with scant regard for this week, it's 15 premos + Comben but to get 18 starters I will need to downgrade Steele to Rozee which might weaken my side beyond this week. Rozee is great for M9 but super risky for M8, I don't have that kind of appetite for risk, not with so few trades remaining.

Aleer is right on the cusp so he's the logical guy to remove, Schoenmaker the only player I like from the rookies remaining. That in itself is risky but easy enough to fix with 3 trades remaining, I'll just need to push Dawson back to defence.

This also allows me to fix up the errant trade of McMullin, I think he's toast from here, he may get sub duties but that's no good to me as I can't see him smashing out 40s & 50s every time he sees some action. With the 3 in his rolling average his price is headed south so 170k isn't such a bad return for a bloke who hasn't played a game without being sub.

This week will be savage, I'm bracing myself to be crushed in all my head to heads but experience tells me trading to grab a couple of extra rookie scores is a recipe for disaster. I don't think I'll be rushing to use up my remaining 3 trades, Comben at F6 isn't terrible, I'll hopefully find a way to get Rankine in eventually.

Out of interest, how many premiums are people running with this week?

I'll do the math properly when I get home from work, but I think it's 17 with some questionable ones like Stewart, May, Salem and Boak.

17 with the questionable ones being, sexton, fisher, green, oliver, horne frances. Too many questionables...

That spells trouble for me, looks like I'll be 200 points down on the crowd, but I have to look beyond this week. Perhaps I should have grabbed Gulden instead of Sinclair, I'm up 20 odd points but likely to be in deficit after this week.

Nevermind, I will wait for the team sheets and hopefully there's a rookie surprise packet. Mannagh getting a game would also be nice, I struggle to see the reasoning behind not playing him when he went for a second round selection, that just seems dumb and a waste of draft capital.

I've got 20, but NWM is a question mark, Green and Oliver in the mids and Sexton at F6. Flipside is my bench looks terrible!

This is why I'm so keen to hold Freijah, at least he can toggle between the forwards & the mids, he and Dowling a good combo.

If you have 20 you are well set, I'm very tempted to switch off the footy this weekend, I have a horrible feeling about this week but not much I can do about it.

Steele to Serong has crossed my mind several times but that leaves me short in the forwards.

Schache is apparently available for selection, he's 123k but again, he's nigh on useless beyond this week.

Bully

Dom Sheed has done a hamstring, Clay Hall a chance, fingers crossed on this one.

Powell is back for the Suns, this week will tell a tale with regards to Sexton. McKercher also fit but will probably be eased in through the VFL.

Taylor ruptured his testicle so I'd be holding Aleer if possible

I've strongly considered it but this week is effectively upgrading him to Jackson, if I hold him and trade Freijah I don't have any reasonable cover in the forward line, McMullin will be dropped for Cogs, that issue needs to be addressed. Aleer will also have his ton move out of his price cycle, 41 BE indicates he's close to maxing out. Taylor 2-3 weeks away, I think I'm better off making the move now because you never know with Jackson, he could shoot back to 550k leaving me without ruck cover.

The go from here will be upgrading Freijah to Rankine in two trades, I'm counting on one of Dowling or Schoenmaker to get the job done. The only question is whether Schoenmaker holds his spot, anyone's guess really but he will be hard to pass up if he backs up last week's performance.

Mat0369

Taylor they said indefinite. Could be 2 to 3 weeks, could be far longer, the bonus is he gives you points this week. I would still be looking to do Aleer to Schoenmaker at some point anyway

Colliwobblers

I'm considering Blicavs or Maclean for the ruck/fwd cover there avg 60's, it's just cover and if i want mid and def cover i don't think I'm getting the Jacksons of this world with the rooks I have left.

It wouldn't be at some point, it will have to be next week as Schoemaker will be on the bubble, that doesn't give me much wriggle room.

The only other option would be Steele to Serong this week, hold Aleer for 1 week & then do the Jackson trade, but that effectively rules out Rankine as I won't have the capital.

In my situation I reckon rank is less important than making finals in my leagues, that's why I'm inclined to tank this week. Strange bye period to be honest, can't ever remember the rookies drying up to this extent, there's always been some half decent plug and plays to help cobble together 18 starters. I think grabbing Sinclair over Gulden might have been an oversight but I hate the concept of taking second best due to bye availability, in fact I hate the byes full stop, this season the worst on record.
