And don't forget reserves!

There are 2 teams (Tokyo, Cape Town) who have made Reserves finals but not the seniors.

You may name an indicative senior team if you wish (or I will), which will be used to determine who will not play in your Reserves side. Obviously, this senior team must consist of players you would be naming if you were playing senior finals.

Amazingly - despite their success over the years - Seoul and Mexico City have never met in finals before. I could have sworn they've had an August epic - but 2023 will be the first.

The 2023 h2h is evenly poised at 9 v 9, but Mexico City would have beaten Seoul in each of the last 4 weeks. Clayton Oliver is coming back though - and not a moment too soon. Seoul just needs a playing ruck and they'd be feeling confident - but I think they don't, meaning the Suns probably have the advantage here.

Purple 77

Rio and Toronto also meet for the first time in finals, which again is surprising given recent successes.

Rio would have beaten Toronto between Rounds 15-17, but last week they suffered a bit of stage fright against a rival they're well accustomed to beating. You'll back them in to respond on the scoring board - but Toronto have genuine firepower ready to blast, and for me I think they're the favourites in this one!

After Friday

A pretty hot start for all involved! Toronto especially pleased with 122 from Atkins, and perhaps Rio feeling miffed Jez ONLY got 114, considering his 7 goal 4 return.

Seoul wouldn't be upset if Zach Tuohy found a way to get on field too. Likewise Mexico City with Henry.

After Saturday

Rio would be bloody THRILLED getting 90s from Lester and Wagner, and coupled with a healthy HGA atm of 72, they have the clear advantage going into Sunday. Of course, the game is far from over, with the captains to have a huge say on the final result. Toronto have had a much more mixed result with its players so far - and can ill afford any more passengers.

We've got another great game here! A massive result for Seoul with its OOP ruck matching the Suns BJW! It's been pretty even elsewhere; the Magpies clearly grateful for the return of Clarry whom duly saluted as captain. That Mexico City defence has been big, unfortunately with Cole subbing out in the 4th. It still has its ace card in Sicily to come, who needs at least 120+ to keep the Suns in this match. The Magpies SHOULD win, but the ceiling of the Suns remaining players can blow them apart yet.

Newcombed, he saw, he Conquered

Wow, what a match! Rio had the game under control going into Sunday with a healthy HGA (even that landed on a super high 63) and with Crouch and Taranto to come. But neither of them tonned, whilst NEWCOMBE STARRED with a mammoth 174! Captain Roma (146) was absolutely immense, and together carried the likes of Macrae, Prestia and Windhager in the mids. Only a couple of points separated the game at 3QT of the last game, but Sam Hayes - who manfully battled on despite being clearly injured in a dead rubber AFL match - finally succumbed to the red vest, leaving Buckley and and Burton to overun Finlayson, causing heartbreak all across Brazil.

Going out in straight sets is always tough, and Rio put in a bloody good score in the Semi compounding the heartbreak of a season that promised so much more. Commiserations Rio, and congratulations to Toronto for an epic victory!

Magpie mids take flight!

This game certainly had some twists! Seoul was looking like it'd coast home, but Wingard went down with a zero! Normally he'd be subbed off, but Gunston was vested too, meaning he had to stay on and watch helplessly as his 13.5 other teammates fought for dear life. James Sicily could have put the game to bed with just another meagre 7 points, but the damage done by led by 2021 heroes Clarry and Danger, as well as imports Cripps and McCluggage was too much. The Suns also would be filthy at Bailey Williams for failing to overcome Seoul's OOP ruck Tsatas, with Aaron Naughton not far behind. The Suns could have kept going all the way to the final I reckon! But in 2023, it was not meant to be.
