Dear World XVs participants,

Welcome to the 12th season of our fantasy football competition! We are thrilled to have all 18 teams participating, especially after the amazing Grand Final that we witnessed last season.

Who can forget the incredible showdown between the Buenos Aires Armadillos and the Pacific Islanders? It was a nail-biting finish that kept us on the edge of our seats until the final siren. Congratulations again to the Armadillos for their hard-fought victory, and to the Islanders for an incredible season.

As we begin Round 1 of this new season, we can't help but feel the excitement building once again. We are eager to see the talent and strategy on display, and we know that each and every one of you is capable of greatness.

So, with that in mind, we encourage all teams to play with sportsmanship and fairness, respecting both the game and their fellow competitors. Let's make this season one to remember, and may the best team win!

Best regards,
The World XVs Administrator

Friday night FULL LOCKOUT at 7.40pm AEDST

A REMINDER ABOUT SUBMISSION RULES:
- green = new
- 4 emergencies are permitted.
- You don't have to name 4 emergencies, however, I won't be finding a replacement emergency for you. If you do name a full squad however, and make a mistake in your submission, I will continue to correct these using your list preferences as a guide.
- NO LOOPHOLING ALLOWED - please see this post which was ultimately rejected . The community voted 'tough luck' on the unique and rare situation where our current loopholing restrictions prevents you from naming a preferred XV. So, yeah, tough luck. Strictly no loopholing.
- You are permitted to indicate whether you'll flood/attack/small and REST both before and AFTER the partial lockout.
- Players are eligible to be subbed out of a match if they take NO part of the 2nd half of an AFL match, or if they themselves are an AFL substitute (green vest)
- Players are ONLY subbed out of a match if they have an eligible replacement (listed either on the utilities or emergencies)
- If you were forced to name an OOP player in your XV, and that player then becomes eligible to be subbed, I will replace them with another OOP player.

We are excited to kick off the 12th season of our fantasy football competition with an exciting match-up between two long-standing rivals: Buenos Aires and Mexico City. This will be the 13th time these two teams face off against each other, and history shows that it's always a close contest.

Last year, Buenos Aires Armadillos emerged as champions after an unforgettable grand final, while Mexico City is coming into this season with only two trades posted in the off-season. However, as the past match-ups have shown, anything can happen in fantasy football, and we are eager to see how this game unfolds.

Looking back at the previous games between these two teams, the Armadillos have won seven matches, while the Suns have won five. But as we know, past performance is not always a predictor of future success, and we expect both teams to bring their A-game in this first match-up of the season.

It's sure to be a game you won't want to miss!

We are excited to bring you the second match-up of the 12th season of our fantasy football competition, featuring two teams looking to make their mark this year: PNL and Rome.

PNL is chasing their first premiership this season and are pursuing the "Geelong strategy" to achieve their goals. Meanwhile, Rome has turned around its fortunes after moving out of Moscow last year and will be looking to build on their impressive form from 2022.

These two teams met twice last season, with PNL emerging victorious on both occasions. However, as we know, things can change quickly in fantasy football, and Rome will be determined to get revenge this time around.

The first match-up between these two teams last season was a closely contested battle, with PNL edging out Rome by just 33 points. The second match-up saw PNL win by a more comfortable margin, but Rome will be looking to make adjustments and put up a stronger fight this time around.

It promises to be a closely fought battle, and we can't wait to see how it unfolds.

We are thrilled to bring you the third match-up of the 12th season of our fantasy football competition, featuring two teams with a storied history: Pacific and Beijing.

Pacific is coming into this match-up with a sense of determination after experiencing heartbreak in last year's Grand Final, where they let the premiership slip away. The team is now looking to make it "fourth time the charm" and finally claim the title they have been chasing for so long.

Beijing, on the other hand, second-guessed themselves in the off-season, but ultimately settled on having another crack at a premiership in 2023. The team will be looking to build on their impressive form from last year and continue their push towards the top of the ladder.

These two teams have a long-standing rivalry, having faced off 13 times since the inaugural season in 2012. Pacific currently holds a 9-4 advantage in the head-to-head record, but Beijing has kept it close in the last 3 match-ups between these two sides.

The match-up between Pacific and Beijing is always eagerly anticipated by fans of World XVs, and this year's contest promises to be just as exciting. With both teams looking to make a statement early in the season, we can expect to see some high-scoring performances and some thrilling moments on the field.

So be sure to tune in for what is sure to be an intense and fiercely contested match-up between two of the best teams in the competition.

Rio de Janeiro had a successful 2022 season and will be hoping to continue that form this year. On the other hand, Seoul has been very active in the trade period and looks to be building a team that can challenge for its 2nd premiership. In their previous encounters, Seoul has dominated Rio de Janeiro with a better win record. But the tables were turned last year when Rio de Janeiro came out on top. This will be an exciting clash, and both teams will be looking to start the season with a win.

In the fifth match-up, New Delhi will take on Cape Town. New Delhi surprised everyone with their fantastic 2022 season, which saw them make it all the way to the preliminary final. They'll be looking to build on that success this year and make a deep run into the finals. Cape Town, on the other hand, underachieved in 2022, so they'll be determined to bounce back and prove themselves as a top team in the league. These two teams have a history of close contests, with each team winning five of the 10 previous match-ups. It promises to be another exciting clash between these two sides.

Despite the history between the two teams, New York will be keen to turn their fortunes around and challenge Toronto in what should be an exciting clash.

However, Tokyo has shown they are a much better team than their finishing position suggests, and they will be determined to prove their worth on the field. London has had the upper hand in the past, winning 6 out of the 10 games they have played against Tokyo. Nevertheless, with both teams striving for improvement this season, this match-up promises to be an exciting contest.

On the other hand, Christchurch will be hoping to continue their upward trajectory after starting to emerge from their own rebuild. In the past, Dublin has dominated this fixture, winning 6 out of the 8 clashes. However, Christchurch did manage to pull off an upset victory in 2022, showing that they are no pushovers. The 9th match-up between Berlin and Cairo promises to be a competitive one. Berlin had a disastrous season last year, despite having a seemingly solid list, but they will be looking to bounce back and prove their worth. Cairo, on the other hand, has been hovering around the middle of the table for a while now and will be itching to make a push for finals. In their past clashes, the teams have traded victories, with Berlin having won more matches overall. However, given Cairo's consistency in recent years, they should be considered a real threat. It will be interesting to see how both teams fare in this upcoming clash.
