First draft, I think I'm committed to going light in defence, rucks I hate this year so I'll probably plump with the boring but consistent Witts

Peter

Agree as good value in mids

Bully

Barring any shock absentees this is how I will roll for this year, pretty weak for keepers but this year is the year of the high priced rookies.

arbel

How much cash do you have leftover?
The team seems fairly similar to most. Maybe 1 extra prem mid but your backs is where it's going to be.
Jones at D2 is a big call. Did you not want to put one of cheeser/ginbey/constable in the mids to get the link or not worried?
Could downgrade one of your mid prems and swing one of the rooks to mid to get in a prem def.

Pretty solid team though!!

Prior to the Yeo calf injury Chesser was the link but replacing a mid pricer had to be done on other lines, Callaghan is a decent bet I think, particularly with Hopper & Taranto exiting the building.

The backline looks fragile but the plan is to get a rookie up to Yeo when he returns, hopefully an easy sideways in round 5-6. Stewart is a high standard deviation player so I'm waiting, Dawson is tempting but I'll wait for now.

Bully

Only have 7k left so not too much wriggle room. If the defensive rookies capitulate I may have to restructure in round 3.

Bully

McLean named as an emergency a reasonably easy fix, Oscar straight in and I will sit on Phillipou for the moment. Pretty confident he gets the nod but Bytel on standby.

Bully

Actually might just bring in Ratugolea, he brings in a floating donut in the forward line which could prove handy, he also provides ruck cover albeit slightly dodgy.

Miller coming off the hamstring worries me a little bit. Otherwise he was one of my first picked in the midfield. I like Allen at F5 and Sheezel at F6. It seems like the forward line is pretty set. Backline is far too light and a disaster waiting to happen with so many rookies.

I think if you could bring in one of Stewart or Dawson and play Jones at D3 it gives you more flexibility to restructure later. You could basically turn Miller into a prem defender, move Chesser to the mid bench, field Baker/Mackenzie and pocket some cash to bring in Sav if needed.

Bully

Not fussed about the number of rookies in defence, I'm gun shy about fielding McKenzie given the Ward experience last season.

I'll start Miller given his backend to last year was up there with Laird, he's a pro so the hammie doesn't concern me.

The emergency restructure will be a one trade fix, underperforming mid to premo defender, Chesser/Ginbey/Constable to the mids, easy as pie & a potential correction in round 3.

I'm also bullish on Merrett this year, line ball call with Steele but will go with the 120 ceiling at this stage.

Mat0369

Ward was a disaster but Mackenzie looks different. He appears to be a good combo of inside and outside where as Ward performed in a severely depleted midfield in the pre-season and was far more inside.

Fair enough on Miller, I would just like to be certain he is over the hamstring because they can linger. His game is largely dependent on his running ability so an early upgrade is on the cards.

Fair enough, it's similar to what I suggested now but a round 3 decision instead. The mid points will be worth more than the defensive ones. It has me contemplating something similar by shifting out Dawson for Macrae/Bont instead.

I don't mind Merrett but I prefer Steele at the price. He did have a great back end to last year minus finals.

Ringo

Just Personal but do not like expensive rookies on the pine. No real issues though with team different structure as well so well done.

Agree but can always trade down if need be, Mckenzie & Sav my expensive bench players, I think they're worth the dough.

Bully

Daicos looks the biz, no second year blues perhaps, was concerned by the extra attention but he looks like a seasoned professional at this early stage.

Mat0369

Hopper to Phillips and Jones to Daicos an option?
