After Friday night

The Tigers were looking at a dream start in at 3QT, but an almost 70SC point last quarter from Cam Rayner has really leveled the contest! Yes, NDT will still take last nights start, but so would Buenos Aires - getting a ton from Rayner (+46 from his average) whom hadn't previously cracked 100 this year was huge, and Berry scored around what he was expected too, likewise NDTs McInerney and Sinclair.

This is going to be a helluva match!

An absolutely outstanding start for the heavy underdogs Rio de Janeiro! Mason Wood - finally called up into the 1s after average 100 in his past 3 games, delivered just that - performing admirably in place of the injured Taranto. Daniel Rich but in a crucial score, whilst BCrouch was solid. A masterful non-C selection, especially considering he had scored 147 and 130 in 2 of the past 3 weeks!

But it didn't stop there - Jarryd Lyons underperformed for the Islanders, but it was Zac Bailey whom has really evened the contest with an absolute mare, guaranteeing a minimal HGA for the Islanders. Game on!

Rio is clearly chasing its highest possible C score.

Captaining the 83avg Finlayson may seem freaking nuts. But, amongst that 17 game 83avg, is 3 scores above 120.

Of its other players to score 120+ this season:
- Brad Crouch (6) had the most, but his non-selection was a masterstroke, scoring only 91 last night;
- Jack Viney (4) would have been the safest option, scoring 110+ in his last 2 matches. But his last 120+ score was 5 weeks ago... either he has run out of gas, or he could be due  :-X
- Daniel Rich (3) scored his 4th 120+ score last night, but he had only played 3 of the last 6 matches, and those where all sub 85 scores
- Isaac Cumming (3) scored all of his in the first 8 weeks
- Todd Marshall (3) hasn't cracked 90 in 7 weeks

Finlayson's last 120+ score was jus 2 weeks ago, and coming up against Essendon this week... coach PB clearly thinks he could do it again. We'll have to wait until the last game of the round to find out... or maybe PB is just a fan of theatre!

After Saturday

Boy oh boy, 2 amazing games in progress!

That OP NDT defense has again lifted for the Tigers, as has their CC duo Brayshaw and Dawson! The only blight so far was Vandermeer, taking the pressure off the Dillos somewhat and keeping the HGA low. Buenos Aires would be reasonably pleased with its score so far, but we won't know how they're tracking until Parish and Wines do their thing. They must perform, or else the Dillos season will end. Think both teams score 150+ here! Incredible!

The Islanders have steadied the ship with big scores to Duggan and Perryman, but Captain Laird put in a lame 97 that keeps Rio's hopes alive. The Islanders are destined to score 140+, maybe 150. The odds would be against Rio to score 150+, so I suspect they'll need a bit of luck... and an inspired Finlayson performance. Ask yourself, do you believe in miracles?!

Short outscores Morrison by a handy 42 points, putting the pressure on Lloyd, Durham, Butters and Fox.

But really, it's all up to Parish and Wines whom have just kicked off...

Rio needed more from Will Day, whilst Titch got a regulation ton. So much pressure is on Finlayson now... will he deliver?

Armadillos roll the Tigers

So many details in this clash! Buenos Aires have famously reignited to deny the Tigers its dream run from 17th to preliminary finalist. Despite missing Adam Cerra, Dustin Martin, Jordan De Goey and Toby Greene (3 of its star forwards), the Dillos still had plenty of quality remaining, superbly lead by Ollie Wines (140) and Shannon Hurn (139).

The Tigers were absolutely sensational... except for Vandermeer (23) and Langdon (39), whose 'mare performances would go on to cost New Delhi its 3rd club grand final appearance and first with coach KB. It was a truly inspiring year New Delhi, but alas, it comes to an end tonight. This list will be around this time next year I suspect.

And kudos to Ash Johnson for making his WXV debut!

Islanders end Flaguars

The Islanders will head into its 3rd consecutive Grand Final, superbly recovering from an awful Friday night to run out 59 point winners of the brave Jaguars.

Rio would rue missing Matthew Kennedy, Tim Taranto, Changkuoth Jiath and Tom De Koning from its starting XV, whom may have exposed the Islanders slow start, but a steady mid performance and game saving performances from Duggan (139) and Perryman (121) saw the Islanders run away with the game as the sub 60 scores mounted up for Rio.

I'm still reeling from the absolute masterstroke captaincy selection... captaining an 83 avg player in a prelim, and them going on to score 133 is freaking nuts. Well done PB and Finlayson! That'll go down in the history books!

It was an inspired 2022 campaign, as Brazil have become accustomed to, but we say farewell to the tallest team in the comp, and wish them a fruitful off-season.

Congratulations to Pacific (and WXV debutant Jake Soligo)! Is it 3rd times the charm?

Imperial taking no prisoners

Following last weeks season high score, the Princes almost repeated the feat, DESTROYING the Armada. Imperial have obliterated the #1 and #2 teams from its 8th position in finals... and only victory will do next week.

Imperial overran the Armada 14 to 7 - but its opponent next week had 11 to choose from... so it could be a closer affair.
