Round 18

IMPORTANT NOTE - PLEASE READ

AFL teams will be announcing their teams at 6:20pm AEST on Thursday (Wednesday for Thursday night games)
Sunday teams are confirmed at 5pm AEST on Friday (Saturday for Monday games)

We WILL NOT be using a partial lockout, please read the rule below.

You are encouraged to name your full team at the start of the round and edit accordingly as teams drop each day. I understand this is not possible for everyone, hence why it would be preferred that people name their full team to begin with.

If you make any edits to your team, please do so in a new 'quote' post.

There is no loopholing allowed in ADT

- With Fri-Sun games back, you can name four (4) emergencies.

- In the event a coach either submits an incomplete team or fails to submit a team at all without contacting the admin, they will receive a warning/strike and their submission from last week will be used. Penalties for this can be found in the rules post (no sacking coaches because we barely have enough as is)

Friday night FULL LOCKOUT at 7.50pm AEST

- Teams are to be posted in this format only

C: Player name
VC: Player name
EVC: Player name

D: x, x, x, x
M: x, x, x, x, x, x
R: x
F: x, x, x, x
I: x, x, x

Emergencies: x, x, x, x, x, x (any position, in preference order)

- HGA for the first team named in the fixture and is the lowest scoring player (raw score) on field.
- C is worth x2 and VC is worth x1.5
- OOP Players are worth 50% of their total score
- In neutral games against your rival, neither team gets HGA

Finals Next Week!

Game to Watch: Bermuda v Washington

This match has finals implications on both sides. In terms of the top 4 race, if Bermuda win, they can jump both Los Angeles and Springfield and steal third spot, though this would require both teams to lose, but if Washington wins, they can snag fourth if Springfield lose. However, with Springfield and LA playing Hawaii and El Paso respectfully, losing doesn't appear likely.

In terms of the battle for finals positions, Calgary and Guadalajara will be praying for a Bermuda victory, as Washington's percentage is far more achievable, and thus the most likely route to jump into sixth, though in Guadalajara's case it would still be a massive ask. And given Calgary plays Dallas, and Guadalajara plays Arizona (both away games), even getting a win seems impossible. Never say never though...

Round 18

Laird Good... But HGA Even Better
Hawaiian Surfers (1575) defeated Springfield Isotopes (1559)

A massive shock and a game with finals ramifications! Springfield will be furious about losing this game, especially on HGA, and in no small part due to Billings' injury affected 0! Laird continues his domination as of late with another great captaincy score, but not even he could carry Springfield to a W. This loss means that Springfield is now vulnerable and a chance of dropping out of the top 4! If only there was a rule that subbed off players with low game time... For Hawaii though, a very impressive W which ends a disappointing season on a high.

Kings Clamber Back On Top
El Paso Pioneers (1537) defeated by Los Angeles Kings (1690)

Not much to say about this one, LA secure their 3rd spot with a win, while El Paso's torturous season is finally over, though with pick 1 in the draft, may they find another Daicos?

Washington Surge Into 'September'
Bermuda Tiger Sharks (1634) defeated by Washington Senators (1736)

A crucial match for the finals race, and Washington take it by the horns! A terrific score that secures their finals berth, but also gives them a decent chance at a top 4 spot. They packed 7 100+ scores into the outfit led from the front by Big Max and his 133, but was it enough? Regardless, Washington's fairy-tale charge into the finals is far from over, and I'm excited to see how far it goes!

Chained Eagle Edges Saints Stars
Arizona Scorpions (1711) defeated Guadalajara Pirates (1670)

Sunday threatened to dish up an upset, with St Kilda posing big issues for Arizona! Kelly was absolutely manhandled by Marcus Windhager as he collected just 4 possessions for a paltry 17 points, while on the other end, Steele and Crouch combined for over 300 points! Steele dominated with his 154 as captain, but alas, it just wasn't enough to snag an unlikely win. However, with Washington beating Bermuda, Guadalajara wouldn't have made finals even with a big win.

Dallas Drop The Ball... But HGA Hangs On
Dallas Coyotes (1543) defeated Calgary Fireflies (1530)

Well, Dallas win on HGA as they post their lowest total of the season by some margin. I don't think there's been a score in the 1600's let along the 1500's! Lucky for Dallas and their unbeaten record though, Calgary were also underwhelming as they looked to stay alive in 2022. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come in finals for the ladder leaders, while for last year's premiers it's a flag and then an early finish in a bitterly disappointing season. Would Hall have made a difference? Probably...
