Round 17

Laird Lifts LA's Crown
Springfield Isotopes (1745) defeated Los Angeles Kings (1589)

Captain Laird demonstrated who the real King in this matchup was, as he broke the tackle record his way to a mammoth 163 pointer! LA didn't have much to counter, with their own captain scoring under HALF of what Laird did! It wasn't a solo effort though, with Springfield simply too good on the day, they now go level with LA on wins, and will now be hoping results go their way as they could finish anywhere from 3rd to 5th.

Captain Clugg Ensures Charge Continues
Washington Senators (1676) defeated Hawaiian Surfers (1606)

McClugagge was clearly inspired by Laird's performance, knocking up a captaincy score of 142 himself, and it truly was the difference in this game, as Washington had to contend with Menegola getting concussed for just 4 points. Still, off the back of their captain they saw off Hawaii who look in better form as of late, and maintain their hold inside the top 6!

Pirates Barely Hold onto Hope
Guadalajara Pirates (1609) defeated El Paso Pioneers (1556)

It wasn't pretty, but Guadalajara beat the spooners to keep that ever slim finals chance beating! They'll need a lot to go their way, and frankly it's very unlikely, but they're still a chance! Not much of note, with Steele being the only 100+ score for Guadalajara, and his captaincy was outdone by Merrett and his 131, but the rest of the team did enough to ensure a victory even without HGA.

Calgary Capitulate
Calgary Fireflies (1494) defeated by Bermuda Tiger Sharks (1714)

Not good. Calgary had it's high scorers, like Houston, but there were way too many passengers on board this week as Calgary slip up in a crucial game. They now reside in 7th, a win behind Washington in 6th, and have a date with... *checks notes* Dallas in Round 18. Oh boy. It's a nigh impossible ask, but they're gonna have to grit their teeth and throw everything at this last game. As for Bermuda, they're almost home free thanks to their healthy percentage, but still, you wouldn't want to be taking chances next week, as they have a match against Washington who will be desperate to win.

Dallas Stands Alone at the Top
Dallas Coyotes (1834) defeated Arizona Scorpions (1653)

Dallas! Coyotes! Dallas! Coyotes!
