After Round 14

Big results this week.

PNLs shock loss to London sees them slip to 4th, but fortunately for them, Cape Town had an even bigger shock loss, so they still remain a game inside the 4.

Cape Town remain 5th, but have allowed Dublin to even the ledger and Berlin to catch up to be just 1 game away from displacing.

Losses to Beijing and Toronto keeps the door wide open for the race for 8th spot in particular, and a win to Tokyo sees them right back in the conversation.

Costly losses to Cairo, Rio and Buenos Aires makes things hard, especially noting their percentages, but London's amazing win catapults them back into contention!

But perhaps the biggest headline of the week belongs to the bottom of the ladder. Shock wins to New Delhi and Christchurch, incredibly, sees Moscow the 18th placed team and a game behind 17th. I would have never predicted that!

These last 3 rounds are going to be so so interesting! Everyone is up against a team around their level (based off last year), so the potential for movement in the ladder during these finals rounds is huge. So hold onto your hats!

After Round 15

And with that, Seoul claims the 2021 Minor Premiership. If they win the next two games, they'll be the first ever WXV team to go 17-0! (I'm 95% sure)

It's a little bit nostalgic to see Mexico City climb to be back in the top 2, but they're a completely different team this time around!

Pacific's loss to direct top 4 contender PNL sees them drop to 4th, but they still have a game and % on the Cobras. They remain at 5th, as does Dublin at 6th and Berlin at 7th, despite both losing.

But the big headline here is LONDON IS IN THE EIGHT! Their HUGE win over Cairo sees them ahead of SIX OTHER TEAMS equal with them at 6-9!

That is actually crazy! Look at all of those teams that could play finals! Even New York!

Man, what a round, and that is only the first of these final 3 special rounds.

After Round 16

Lets start at the top. Seoul walk into the last round of the year with the opportunity to be first ever team to go undefeated in the H&A season!

Mexico City's drubbing of London, and losses to PNL and Pacific, sees them get a guaranteed 2nd finish.

The Reindeers missed an opportunity to put pressure on the Suns for a home qualifying final, but will at least get one. The same can be said for Pacific, meaning the top 4 is unlikely to change.

The Cobras loss to Dublin, the team directly behind them, makes 5th place an interesting mini-battle, but both will get a home elimination final as the Brewers failed to keep the pressure on. Berlin can consolidate 7th with a win, else will be at serious risk of slipping out if they lose.

Beijing's against-the-odds victory over PNL sees them get back into the 8, and sets up quite the spectacle against Seoul next week! Beat the undefeated, and you're in.

Toronto's crucial win over Berlin keeps them in the conversation too, joining Rio the week before. They both go head to head next week, where the winner will be a big chance at making the finals, especially if Berlin lose again!

Buenos Aires also posted a season-surviving win, and will face the lowly New Delhi next week. A huge opportunity to make the 8 is on the cards, but they gotta win big! Amazingly, New York is also still a chance, but will face the red-hot Saints next week.

London's season is unfortunately over. Noting that one of Toronto and Rio will win next week (surely not a draw), it means you'll need 8 wins to make the finals, a target they won't make this year. The same can be said of Tokyo, whom just haven't been able to take that step in recent years.

A headline that a less awake version of me would miss, is that Christchurch overtook New Delhi on points scored this year, meaning they are no longer the lowest scoring team in 2021!

Cairo will finish 16th... well most likely.

And lastly, Moscow will face Tokyo next week in its last ditch effort to avoid the spoon, and will have to rely on New Delhi losing to the Dillos. It could happen!

Alrighty, the moment we've all been waiting for. The final H&A ladder!

BERLIN HANG ON! They finish 7th, and feel very guilty about it.

Toronto nab 8th, with a very symmetrical percentage of exactly 100!

Heartbreakingly, the Dillos couldn't get the 140 more SC points it needed to make finals. I know this feeling all too well (R23, 2017).

New York round out the 8-9 crew, but were never making up that %.

The only other movement of note was PNL slipping to 4th to book a date with the fearless, record-breaking minor premiers in Seoul.

And we officially 'award' the 2021 Wooden Spoon to Moscow. A sentence I never thought I'd type!

To all teams outside the 8, I want to really express how good it was to have all of you on board in 2021! It was an awesome H&A season, and I hope to see you PMing inboxes for early trade chat, and getting around the finalists!
