Well here's the first rip for 2021. Starting off with both Gawn and Grundy and will go cheaper in the midfield. Rowell, Cripps, Cunnington and B Maynard will be watched very closely in the pre-season comp along with all rookies. So here we go :-

Excellent first up team ST. Batting very deep across all lines. Love the Cunnington pick. Hard to fault and great base to work with.

Thanks cog missed Mitchell surgery. Can't get a line on the midfield yet after last years changes to time and scoring so will now go a little different. Putting Dangerfield in the middle and Sidebottom up forward, gives early flexibility and can fill mids as I become more sure. Added flexibility won't go astray knowing how little we know about this seasons rookies.

Anthony Daniher still playing ST? Good team, understand Dangerfield for Mitchell.
Any feel for fwd/mid mix for Danger. Surely he is playing more mid this year? Not starting lloyd I see, I finally gave up after years of not starting the pigeon and gone with him this year. Think Whitfield better choice than Maynard as well. Rowell - think I may succumb to the weight of expectation and fit him in but for the life of me he has to perform better than every rookie to play the game to be worthwhile. Not convinced Ziebell will be a good choice either. Will be driven by cash availability after rookies are known.

OOOPS, perhaps Joe Daniher. Whitfield and Lloyd definite upgrade targets and I went Maynard because of the standard pre-season hype of more midfield time, with Treloar gone. Rowell is in because of the way he started last season and if he comes up anything near that I think he is worth the risk at the price. Reckon there are some good bargains at Nth this year and have picked the one's I believe most probable and that are priced to give me flexibility if they need replacing after selection night. Usually each pre-season I pick what I think could be the best team possible, money no object, then try and work backwards from that. But this coming year I am very unsure of the midfield, so if there are enough rookies that look like playing regularly and scoring reasonably will go skinny there. Think it's likely that most of us will make a mid price madness version of our teams for reference just in case there aren't many rookies performing well, and or, named for Rd.1. Have a look at Menadue during the practice matches, assuming they are played, won't be a keeper but may ave well enough to keep til the byes. Think Dangerfield will play more mid this year,
but also as importantly, with the addition of Cameron and perhaps Higgins up forward I think it very possible that he could get a lot less attention than usual and score out of this world. He was my 3rd lock, after Gawn and Grundy. Thanks for the comments, much appreciated, and the very best of luck.
PS One other thing I'm a little cautious about is Grundy. Was it exhaustion last season or not a happy camp at Collingwood. Think he is too professional for the latter. But watching even though he was 3rd picked.

Valid point on Grundy, wonder if Tigers and Demons will be affected by coaches personal issues. It is hard not to bring your personal life to work when it is challenging. Havent got Danger in yet but may do same as you and start him instead of mitchell or J Kelly. have a good year mate

My only concern is Green at M5. Would prefer Heppell at similar $.. if you can afford, bring in Steele/Oliver for Danger.. Don't know why, I'm just over Dangerfield. I've dropped him at F1 for Dunkley.. Cheers.

Thanks Ash. Heppell is targeting a Rd.1. come back after another ankle injury. I like Green as a break out possibility at this stage and think Danger, with Cameron and Higgins as additional forwards will get more mid time and less scrutiny when up forward. And if he does eff- all can use his $'s to pluck someone who started red hot that I missed initially. If it weren't for the Cameron and Higgins inclusion I too would have steered clear of Dangerfield. Thanks Ash , and go Tiges,,,, 2021 and we win another one !!

Bit of an update. With Dangerfield NQR and Sidey perhaps a little pricey have gone for a possible break out. Haven't gone heavy in the midfield as I have a bit of uncertainty about the validity of scores accumulated in the shorter quarters of 2020.

$33,400 left over. Being strictly black and white in theory. 9 keepers plus W Milera, S Walsh, M Rowell, T Taranto and C Rozee as hopefuls who should score well, plus Ziebell, Daaniher and Atkins who should have plenty of job security and could score OK. This leaves only D G-Barrass, L Jones, T Powell and S Rowe as the only on field rookies. Have picked this team in case of a rookie shortage come selection night Rd,1, Will stick with G+G ruck combo unless the rookie situation gets out of hand. Have at it guys, there's plenty of places in this one to punch holes in. Cheers.

The AFL did not do us any favours with Gawn, Grundy and Marshall all having the Rd 14 byes so something to conisder with the GG ruck.

Probably not sold with Rozee at F3 but great for you if he breaks out,
