Yeah I don't think we can trust Hickey at R2, especially with no Marshall for coverage if it goes pear-shaped. Gawn and Grundy is the safest option moving forward. Otherwise you would need to look at a ROB and there is no guarantee he gets close to the other two.

I may be flipping on this option with Flynn now a viable R3 option.

Thanks for the positive feedback above.
Decided to take Williams out due to fwd role 50/50 spoken by Jack Martin in the Age article
“It’d probably be 50-50, depending on how the game’s going,” he said. “He’ll go forward, I’ll go midfield. We’re just building that little combination I guess.” and bringing McDonald in... He averaged incredibly well in his new role in the second half of last season, he played that same role in their scratch match and dominated again. Seems wise.

Williams numbers while playing forward in his career have been trash, so this is a viable reasoning. However I have a gut feeling that Martin will play predominantly half forward and push up to the wing. I'm still unsure of how our midfield rotations will be panning out since we have so many midfielders but a lot of them aren't elite yet.

Happy to leave Williams out and bring McDonald in. Lots of reasons to say why it is a sound move.

Hickey at 261k is interesting.
Reports were he did well in the scratch match and had the better of Sinclair. Naismith is still out with his knee so the spot is there for the taking. Assuming he takes it and averages around 70-80 he will make 100k+ as good as a rookie might.
The 400k difference between Grundy and Hickey allows me to upgrade a fwd rookie to Dusty, a defensive rookie to Stewart or a mid rookie to Walsh.
Hickey 75 + Dusty 105 v Grundy 120vc + rookie 60
It’s a good discussion. Hickey is worth watching over the next two weeks but think it’s another risk I probably won’t take.

Like Mat earlier in this thread I may bring in Hickey after all.
Defensive rookies are looking like they just aren’t going to be there.
Gould is not looking likely from what I have read. Something would have to change in the next week.
As such I’m looking at batting deeper in defence now.
Hickey went well in the Swans scratch match vs GWS and with Naismith still sometime away with his knee injury Hickey is shaping as their #1 ruck with Sinclair back up. At 261k I feel he could make 120-150k. I can also afford another premo defender and just need one playing defensive rookie as a result.
I don’t want Cox as he’s too expensive but will be looking at Gawn and Grundy again if the defence rookies appear.
In the meantime this is my present thinking...

D- Lloyd, Laird, Mills, Short, McDonald, LJones (THighmore, I Chugg)
M- Neale, Oliver, ZMerrett, Dangerfield, Rowell, Green, SBerry, CDownie (EGulden, CLazzaro, ESmith)
R- Gawn, Hickey (Flynn)
F- Heeney, Ziebell, Daniher, Impey, Treacy, Waterman (HJones, JRowe)

Byes
R12 McDonald, Dangerfield Green Rowell
R13 Neale Zerrett Short
R14 Lloyd Laird Oliver Gawn Heeney Mills

After the game today I don't think Hickey is a viable option. He went up against an inexperienced Briggs today and was smashed. Grundy has to come back in but I think we have two solid cheaper choices down back in Briggs and Kosi.

I don't think Kosi will put up big scores but if he can score 50's with the occassional ton thrown in he should generate cash.

If Briggs plays round 1 and holds his spot he should be good for D6.

Yeah. Already done the swap back to GG. Have Briggs and Kosi pencilled in too.
