Don’t think you can run with that team. If Daniher has a bad week you might get 120 points for four playing forwards

Which team do you think is best starting team NZ?

Sabretooth Tigers

 :)

Excellent guns and rookies team incorporating the two premier rucks. I see Danger left the building, and he'll probably leave mine as well. Love the Luke McDonald pick, he's been in and out of my team and may be a starter yet. What I like most is the amount of players you have that can safely be trusted wearing the big " C ".  6 or 7. Have seen several reasonably good teams put up but most have very few captain options. Great team mate. Wonder how hard it would be to pick a team that plays no rookies on the field, this could very easily be the most uncertain year in SC history regarding their job security. Might give it a try over the next few days and hope to include 10 keepers. Cheers.

Probably 3rd team mate. 6 deep in mids and Daniher at F4 looks better.
Preuss at R2 will be my preferred way to go. Not sure of Ladhams; I’d rather see Heeney there.
As far as structure goes and the premium picks it’s Team 3 for me.

9 rookies + Daniher on ground is asking for trouble imo. Yeah there's lots of options for C and VC,  and 12 legit keepers. But that won't matter if you have no rookies playing.

It seems safer to have this structure and I have the cash to swap whitfield/williams > steward/mcdonald as well.   Spent a fair bit of time on SC Talk reviewing some of the models that were done previously on GnR v MidPrice etc.  As well as good points made on the statistical risks of multiple players with lost games due to injury.    Why I am moving from Whitfield/Williams.  The challenge with not starting Gawn is how to bring him in.  Assuming he drops and Preuss gets to 500-550 might be a 100-150k changeover.   Which is one trade and acceptable.     Data from Gnr modelling shows the greatest points increase for dollars spent is in low priced rookies (if they are playing).   Overall it generally results in highest cash increase and better overall performance later in the year.    However, you do tend to be behind in the earlier part of the year.   Ultimately it comes down to trading in the right upgrades and rookies and nailing C/VC most weeks.

see above notes.    Great to have the C/VC options and Oliver is a better starting option than Danger who can be traded in later for less.    Overall will come down to trading and rookie selection.   Dont think I have every started a pure GnR team yet.  As spend so much time looking for breakout or undervalued options.  Tempted to try it this year and see what happens!  This team has more rookie risk but less lost game risk from prems.    See how I feel come March!

Concur with what has been said and I like Team 3 as well with Ladhams the only real issue for me.

problem with GG and Marshall is that they all share the same bye so hence one + Preuss preferred.

Team 05  - 2.5 hours before Rd 1 game 1
large restructure -not done today but over past couple of months and recent weeks and pre season games.

Rucks - 1 prem, 1 rook onfield, 1 rook bench.  Maximise cash generation and expect ruck rookies to be highest earners.
Def - 5 Prems - used cash to go deeper in Def due to poor rookies
Mids - was going six deep with Taranto at m6.  Decided to add doc to DEF and go five deep in mids and 5 deep in Def as more cash gen opportunity in mids for rookies.[/size]

Cash on Hand 34,700

Gawn - I see as overpriced for way game looks this season.
Neale out as expect him to revert to SuperPrem around 130 or high 120's and only really need 1 bad game to get him cheaper.   Looked sluggish in preseason (until his 60pt 3rd qtr ) Hoping to get him 600-630k

Lloyd is priced over his expected return and also faces competition for kicking out plus more direct game under new roles and I am hoping it will cut his pigeon status.  ( probably more hope that expectation but geez I dont like the way he plays)
two major captain options gone but will rely on oliver, macrea, grundy, danger and merrett for VC/C options

Nice team, ballsy without Gawn but could pay off big time
