has a quieter back end.

Hope he can hold on for a podium finish.

not bad for a guy who was pretty much washed up a few years ago.

WXV Rising Star

The most divided Rising Star count we've ever had!

I asked everyone to vote on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis, and for the first time ever, we have joint winners.

Congratulations to Matt Rowell (Seoul) and Caleb Serong (Buenos Aires)!

Despite playing just 5 AFL games (7 WXV games), Rowell notched up 5* tons (in terms of WXV games), which was 2 more than anyone else. Meanwhile, Serong was a constant presence throughout the season and scoring at an impressive 74.5 average (in WXV games).

Quote from: Purple 77 on August 22, 2019, 09:42:04 PM
In previous years, the All-Worlds team was put to vote by the community. However, this year I have determined the All-Worlds team because its kinda clear for the most part, except for the bottom 5 players or so.

To qualify for the All-Worlds team, you'd have needed to play at least 12 senior games. The following analysis has been done from the 17 H&A season rounds, inclusive of reserves scores (this is consistent with previous years).

Defenders
I produced a rank for each defender according to the total points they scored compared to all other defenders (rank 'X'). Separately, I produced a rank for each defender according to their average points per game (rank 'Y').

I multiplied X and Y together, to produce Z. I then sorted 'Z' by smallest to largest. The top 4 defenders made the All-Worlds team.

For example, Shannon Hurn had the 2nd highest average for all defenders. X = 2.
But, he had the 8th highest total points scored. Y = 8.
Z = 2 x 8 = 16

16 was the 3rd lowest score, meaning he is named as D3.

This method thus takes into account both games played and points per game.

Midfielders, Rucks and Forwards
See 'Defenders'

Utilities
See 'Defenders', except all players are compared to each other regardless of position.

Captain & Vice Captain
Were those with the best overall ranking. Don't worry, this was clear no matter what angle you cut it.

I proudly present to you, the 2020 All-Worlds Team!

D: Jake Lloyd (121.94 from 17, New Delhi), Luke Ryan (105.12 from 17, PNL), Nick Haynes (104.24 from 17, Seoul), Jordan Ridley (105.06 from 16, Tokyo)
M: Lachie Neale (142.59 from 17, Beijing), Clayton Oliver (129.65 from 17, Seoul), Jack Macrae (123.12 from 17, Toronto), Jack Steele (118.29 from 17, New York)
R: Brodie Grundy (123.35 from 17, Beijing)
F: Christian Petracca (118.35 from 17, Mexico City), Lachie Whitfield (110.75 from 16, Tokyo), Andrew Brayshaw (106.82 from 17, Buenos Aires), Tom Hawkins (109.38 from 16, Moscow)
U: Max Gawn (142.69 from 13, Berlin), Todd Goldstein (120.76 from 17, Dublin)

CAPTAIN: Lachie Neale (Beijing)
VICE CAPTAIN: Clayton Oliver (Seoul)
CO-COACHES: DazBurg & HP (PNL)

(note: Ridley & Maynard were tied in D4 in this system; the deciding factor was whom averaged more out of the 14 AFL rounds i.e. omitting duplicate scores)
