Hey all :)

Similarly to last year, I've decided to extend one wonderful night into a wonderful week*, dedicated to recognising the achievements of players, coaches and teams alike for the season gone by!
*maybe longer

Full disclosure, I simply don't have the time to run this like I have in previous years, or as a matter of fact, even last year.

My intention is to drip feed this information when I can, and hopefully wrap it up either before, during or shortly after the WXV GF.

I'll begin the Jim Stynes Medal count from Wednesday night, and nightly until we have recognised:
- The 2020 Jim Stynes Medalist
- Coach of the Year
- Rising Star
- Coaches Award
- All-Worlds team
- All-Reserves team
- ... and the belated World Idol champion!

Previous Jim Stynes winners
2012: Gary Ablett Jnr
2013: Gary Ablett Jnr
2014: Gary Ablett Jnr
2015: Todd Goldstein
2016: Patrick Dangerfield
2017: Patrick Dangerfield
2018: Tom Mitchell
2019: Max Gawn

Alrighty! Let's get this started!

All WXV club coaches have dialled into this event remotely, given ol mate 'rona. Formalities and aesthetics may be down, but the glory has never been stronger!

So lets get stuck into it!

I proudly present the 2020 WXV Coach of the Year!

There were many, many worthy coaches for a nomination, but formal nominations were restricted to those 7 coaches who were able to add at least 2 extra wins to their 2019 total. I asked everyone to vote on a 3-2-1 basis as to who should be the 2020 WXV Coach of the Year.

Pleasingly, everyone received votes from at least 4 different people! But there were three standout coaches who were neck-and-neck for top place. Interestingly, whilst all 3 coaches achieved many additional wins this year, it appears their trading nous was also recognised!

It is my pleasure to announce that the WXV coach(es) of the year is...

DazBurg and HP (PNL)!

I remember quite vividly the good guys from PNL kicking the bucket at the end of last year, fed up with another year in the bottom 4 playing the 'waiting' game. So they decided to go for it.  After producing just a 4 win year in 2019, Daz & HP added a whopping 7 additional wins in 2020, and a elimination final win to go with it, finishing 5th overall. Whilst the firepower they imported may have some grey hairs, they are well placed to go again and position PNL to take that next step.

Daz & HP are a great example of showing that the best time to compete is NOW, not later. Congrats guys!
