Purple 77

Hey all!

Fortunately, the top 8 teams have been decided prior to Round 17, which will make things easier when Finals Week 1 starts when Round 17 finishes :)

However, the positioning of the 8 is still well in dispute! Once Round 17 is over, I will formalise the OP and set-out the match-ups. But for now, could the following teams be sure to submit a team this week :)

Qualifying/Elimination Finals, AFL Round 15

Home Team                             Away Team                             Venue                                                                                 Head-to-Head
Seoul MagpiesCape Town CobrasSeoul World Cup Stadium5  v  4
Beijing ThunderPacific IslandersBeijing Olympic Park3  v  7
PNL ReindeersToronto WolvesState de France4  v  5
Dublin DestroyersLondon RoyalsCrooke Park3  v  6

Given the inevitable loopholing accusations that will come with a rolling lockout, I've decided to again enforce a FULL LOCKOUT at the commencement of Richmond v West Coast, this Thursday night at 7.10pm AEST.

YOU MUST NAME EIGHT ( 8 ) EMERGENCIES

For reserves, I will fix the ladder in the coming day or so to determine top 8 teams. If you are in the Reserves finals, but not in the seniors, you may name an indicative senior team if you wish, which will be used to determine who will not play in your Reserves side. Obviously, this senior team must consist of players you would be naming if you were playing senior finals.

Seoul v Cape Town
Head-to-Head: 5  v  4
Last time they played (Round 12): Seoul Magpies (24.8.152) def Cape Town Cobras (21.9.135)
2020 Head-to-Head: 10 v 7
Purps' Takeaway: Seoul have gone gang busters in the second half of the year. They haven't dipped below 150 since Round 10! Cape Town's wins of came at teh the start of the year, including 6 of the first 8, but interesting would have beaten Seoul in Round 17. I think Seoul wins... as usual.

Beijing v Pacific
Head-to-Head: 3  v  7
Last time they played (Round 15): Pacific Islanders (26.6.162) def Beijing Thunder (20.11.131)
2020 Head-to-Head: 8 v 9
Purps' Takeaway: Without a doubt, my MATCH OF THE ROUND! Beijing & Pacific have been interwined for multiple years now, and have been using each other as a yard-stick ever since they were cellar dwellers together. Pacific have come out on top in the 2020 H2H, but only just. They sure have the mental advantage though - absolutely smacking Beijing just a couple of weeks ago. Personally, I think Greale will get the 'Jing home.

PNL v Toronto
Head-to-Head: 4  v  5
Last time they played (Round 13): Toronto Wolves (21.8.134) lost to PNL Reindeers (21.8.135*)
2020 Head-to-Head: 9 v 8
Purps' Takeaway: Only 7SC points separated these two teams when they last met. This is another evenly matched game, but only with respect to how they fluctuated throughout the season. They both had multiple scores in the 120s, 130s, 140s and 150s, so tipping who wins this game is anyones guess. I'll tend towards HGA in that case. PNL for me!

Dublin v London
Head-to-Head: 3  v  6
Last time they played (Round 13): London Royals (22.7.139) def Dublin Destroyers (20.9.129)
2020 Head-to-Head: 11 v 6
Purps' Takeaway: The two H2Hs says it all for me. Dublin - when fully fit - is a consistent powerhouse and would beat London on most weeks. But, the thing is... they tend to play in those other weeks. It's actually quite amazing. London just match up well on Dublin! But that's not to discount the Royals either - they've put up some strong performances this year and pushed that 150 mark. But, Dublin have a bigger ceiling, so I'll tend to favour the Destroyers in this one.

WXV Round 17
Elimination/Qualifying
Semi Finals

And yes, we'll need all teams in the top 8 to submit teams for the Semis, in case they win.

And don't forget reserves!

There are three teams (Tokyo, New Delhi, Buenos Aires) who have made Reserves finals but not the seniors.

Given the poor notice I my part, I will be naming your final XV based on form and your historical naming of players.  If you would like to challenge my selection, I will entertain it.

The fact he doesn't use Graaaaaaaaahn Maaaaaaaaaaaaahrs is utterly ridiculous and should DQ him from any potential premiership aspirations.

If i wrote them 'properly' it would probably mess with Purps' spreadsheet tbh.

Haha, these nick names all flow onto my spreadsheet :P they are used so often that I thought it was worth adding to the auto-list haha
