Hold or trade Ceglar?

Gees Ceglar has been underwhelming these last couple of weeks.

Is it best to just trade him down to Rankine and make a bit of cash?

Rankine will probably score more anyways.

I'd dump him if you have no other pressing issues. I think that Big Boy has to go back into the ruck and it either pushes Ceglar forward or out of the team. It's not that he sucked down back against the Pies, it's just that Ceglar was absolutely smashed in the ruck and they're lacking height up forward other than O'Brien. They also looked a lot better in the middle with Big Boy in the ruck.

For me he stays for a while. Taylor and Starcevich go this week. Other rookies are fattening and with scores of 30-50 from on field rookies they are more of a priority than Ceglar who is averaging 79 and lost only 1k for the year to date.
McEvoy provides more of a physical contest against the bigger rucks. He is a genuine utility in that he has played with success forward and back. Against GWS Finlayson beat BigBoy in the air and Himmelberg made McEvoy look ridiculously slow on the ground whilst Ceglar was being beaten in the ruck so from a match up perspective it was a no brainer for Clarko to switch things up. Last week the Hawks only kicked 3 goals for the match. Ceglar again started as #1 ruck but was against Grundy. 43 points was pitiful and it does beg the question but I feel he will still be tried as#1 ruck with occasional match ups seeing McEvoy thrown around in different roles.
For what we paid initially and what he has delivered thus far he is far from my worst pick. I’m holding and am hopeful that his average will start climbing up again from here.

Similar to Enzedder, I'm focusing on moving on rookies first and hoping that Ceglar can turn it around, or at least not bleed too much cash.

I originally picked him as ruck insurance and the ideal scenario would be to move him to F7 by season's end. The change in schedule hasn't helped him as he has faced Goldy, Mummy, Grundy, Gawn the last 4 weeks (Mummy obviously not in the same league as the Big 3, but is a physical ruckman, which Ceglar struggles with). Plus the team has been playing terrible, which means things get switched around.

The Hawks play Sydney the week after, so hopefully Ceglar can survive in the ruck until then :-X

Agree with others here keeping at the moment as we have to get the underwhelming rookies scoring 20s and 30s off the field.

Ceglar will probably be traded in due course if he maintains 70s scores, If he improves to 80s then good enough for F6/7 and tuck cover.

Gotta hold at this stage because have other more pressing priorities and he still provides ruck cover.
Given they AFL is going to condense more games in a shorter time span, one or both of the current rucks in our teams might be rested.

If he gets dropped I think that’s your decision made for you.

Even if he doesn’t he has to go I think...he’s prob dropping another 20k this week.

Will drop more than that I think. If he scores 75 against Gawn (doubtful) he will drop $35K.

Initially I was all for trading him given the expected price drops and if Taylor plays he shouldn’t lose money. Now given the compressed rounds, he might be good to keep for Ruck cover, but that assumes he keeps his place.

No guarantee he won’t get dropped this week or after being killed by Gawn and be mid-high 300K in price

Has to go now.

Taylor named. For me, do I think Ceglar or Taylor is going to score more over the next 2.
Hard one to answer!

Taylor definitely won’t lose as much money

I know Ceglar is going to bleed cash, but I brought him in as a backup ruck if needed throughout the year, so am going to stick with him even if he becomes an F7 in the end. The feeling of having a backup far outweighs the feeling of bleeding cash. Could be handy when Grundy has a bye as well.

Don't care that Ceglar is going to lose cash next time he plays if I don't intend on trading him. Being out this week might be a blessing when Gawn was probably going to pants him. Should be back in a weeks time and having played all the best ruckmen in the league average at least 95 on the run home. See plenty of upside for him and would rather not waste a trade getting him out.
