Can someone explain the Viney thing to me... Career ~90avg guy, obviously went huge round 1, but do people think that he's really going to be in the 105-115 range this year? Why?
My comments and only personal are that if he can average 95/105 for the next 4 rounds he will be close to $5550k making a nice $100k, He may be a keeper or at that price an easy upgrade later,  At this stage money making is probably the most important due to shortened season. Whilst I expect Viney to maintain form will be interesting to see if the return of Jones has any effect on him.

He seems to be over his injury worries and it just wasn't R1 he did it in the preseason games as well but my biggest concern with him is him getting suspended he plays on the edge 100% of the time and there will be a lot of players looking over their shoulders when they play the Dee's but still gonna get him for the $$ and Ringo I'm definitely getting if he will get to $5550K  ;D

Yes, he's only against Pittonet. But he does have a 170 BE so theres still a good chance he drops some cash, even if he goes 130.

Dunkley -> Viney
Green -> Sturt
Bontempelli -> Whitfield
BZT -> Howe

Are the 4 trades I'm looking at, then McAsey -> Hill is what I've done for the 5th at the moment. The first two I think I'll do, beyond that I'm not entirely sure though. I do feel bad trading out Bont...

Have a look at the game stats re Viney. Basically few personnel attending CBA’s. Jones not a mid anymore; James H to backline as well, leaving four according to stats for pre season and round 1. Does a lot of tackling and physical stuff; provided stats on the right side  of the rules, will do well under Gawn, the captain and number one or two ruckman in the league. Simple.

Viney was also really salty at being stripped of the captaincy, looks like he took that anger out in Round 1, the right way.

As mentioned I've been totally away from footy lately but decided I should finally try and get back into the swing of things so I had a play around with things this morning to see what's what. After all, I'm in a cash league so I guess I gotta get back into it all :)

BZT and McAsey are two I really want to get rid of, but I've actually come up with a plan that I like, however it involves keeping both of them for now, but they'll both be on my def bench so I think that's fine

If BZT gets dropped it means I can use him to loop D6 and he won't lose cash either

I expect McAsey to hold his spot and lose a little cash but that's ok as he won't be on field and that's a small price to play to get the rest of my side looking much better. I can also look to trade those 2 in the following weeks anyway (BZT and McAsey to Doedee and Gould/BJW/donut sounds good for next week)

Pending team announcements

OUT: Brodie Smith, Dylan Roberton, Andrew Brayshaw, Tom Green and Brandon Starcevich

IN: Darcy Byrne-Jones, Jeremy Howe, John Noble, Stephen Hill and Sam Sturt

This means I have Brander/BZT/McAsey at D6-8 so only need to field 1 and can possibly loop

McInerney, Dev Rob, Budarick at M8-10 with donut Rivers at M11 to loop 1 of them for M8

Taylor and Sturt F5&6

Heaps of DPP flexibility too with Hill fwd and Brander def, Rivers D/M and Budarick in mid too

Much better overall than the crap I entered Round 1 with lol

Thinking the following :
Oliver -> Viney for $$$
BZT -> Doedee
Cavarra -> Sturt
Green -> Naismith

Keeping Roberton and happy with rest of rookied
BZT will not drop in price and Doedee will not go up in price, so why make that trade now?
It's probably worthwhile waiting until after round 2 to see what happens.

Will probably wait until teams are named to finalise otherwise all im doing is guessing. Ever year I second guess choices and invariably the players I bring in fail, this was the first year in a while I stuck with my team and lo and behold it worked in R1.

I believe that a lot of people will make trades for the sake of making trades, looking at short term benefit rather than the longer term benefit of the team.

Defence Premiums - Sicily & Houston didn't score as well as id have hoped. If I was to trade either it would need to be a sideways or downgrade to a breakout. Only legit option here is Howe (no one else scored well enough to warrant a sideways) and we know he can score well, but he is also just as likely to hit a 60. I feel that is trade is chasing points. Im comfortable keeping both.

Defence Rookies - There was no real rookie that needs to be picked. Plus there is no cheap options that have already played. Happy to keep the ones I have and adjust going forward if required.

Mid Premiums - Danger & Bont were the 2 underperformers and given the lack of trades needed on other lines I have the opportunity here to make a correction or 2. Viney is a logical choice as he is going to skyrocket this week, but it is only 1 week. Mitchell I was impressed with enough to make me think he would be a good option. Alternatively I could bring in Heeney/Gray etc as a optiont to DPP into the Fwd line quickly.

Mid Rookies - Started a 0 scorer to take Picketts score, so perfect opportunity to correct this. Robertson is the only on that ive missed whom I took out the get the score.

Ruck - Started Naismith & Grundy so no change needed, Suace would be nice for the cash, but no opportunity in my team for him.

FWD Premiums - All my prems scored over 100 so no change needed

FWD Rookies - If named Sturt & Georgiades need to come in to my team. Got Cavarra, King & Budarick whom all could drop out. Budarick could swing to mids for my 0 score if I think it is a better option and open up a DPP link.

Sounds like a good start to the season LS.    I tossed up DBJ v Houston for rd 1 and went Houston so I probably need to back to him in.    Want to get Noble as I only want one rookie at d6 on the field.   Currently have
Sicily, Doc, Houston, Roberton, Cumming, BZT, Starcevic and Brander.  If Cumming doesnt maintain his possie will sideways to Noble. Not enough cash to grab DBJ.

Mids are fine though if cash is needed will downgrade Cripps for a shortterm cash grab with Viney.
Like you I have Grundy and Naismith.  Not sure what to do if Naismith doesnt play this week as Xerri is R3.

Nothing to do until teams drop.  Heeney, Naismith Georgiadis brought in for Brayshaw, English and Rankine.
With the extra trades this year, not worth keeping lots of non scoring rooks if I can get a playing rook.
Fwds - Whitfield, Martin, Heeney, D Smith, Georgiadis, sturt - davis cavarra
