#16
Round 9

Rising Star

Unlike in Round 8, three players from that aforementioned 12 did play in Round 9 and thankfully included the most deserving. New York's Izak Rankine (111) was absolutely incredible in his WXV and AFL debut. The other players were Pacific's Andrew McPherson (76) and Mexico City's Chayce Jones (73), whom could have been nominated if they played in Round 8 instead.

Team of the Week

No changes to the Round 8 team, except for the coach. Funnily enough, JB and Toges scored the same this week, so form a dangerous duo of Co-Coaches.

Special mention though to David Zaharakis (126), the highest scorer in the reserves this week. What were you thinking Cairo?

D: Callum Mills [C] (Cape Town), James Sicily (Mexico City), Brodie Smith (Berlin), Jeremy McGovern (Cairo)
M: Sam Menegola (Cape Town), Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul), Joel Selwood (Berlin), Touk Miller (London)
R: Max Gawn [VC] (Berlin)
F: Jy Simpkin (Beijing), Hugh Greenwood (Cairo), Andrew Brayshaw (Buenos Aires), Tom Hawkins (Moscow)
I: Tim Kelly (Toronto), Jack Macrae (Toronto)

Co-coaches: JBs-Hawkins (Seoul) & Toga (Beijing)

Toga

Kingy! Making the most of his opportunity ;)

Also loving Jy Simpkin :-*

Round 10

Rising Star

Ho boy. Firstly, I'll mention that the top 2 scorers from the remaining pool battled in the reserves through Isaac Quaynor (Berlin) and Luke Jackson (Seoul). Secondly, I'll say that there was a 3-way tie from those in the seniors, being Lachlan Ash (Buenos Aires), Laitham Vandermeer (New Delhi) and Jye Caldwell (Cairo), all scoring 69.

Team of the Week

Some simply amazing individual performances this week - Shaun Higgins' 182 doesn't even get a stinkin' VC! As I said before, there's a specific type of player that scores a double-ton at 22 years of age. London, Tim English is just meant to be yours, and I think he will be for a very long time.

Jukes/Torpedo10 take out the coach-of-the-week as they pop-up and do on occasion (I think?), Dylan Grimes also makes a rare appearance, unlike Hugh Greenwood, whom is making a habit of occupying the forward line now.

D: James Sicily (Mexico City), Tom Jonas (Beijing), Dylan Grimes (London), Harris Andrews (Cape Town)
M: Shaun Higgins (Cape Town), Jack Steele (New York), Adam Treloar (Moscow), Luke Parker (Buenos Aires)
R: Timothy English [C] (London)
F: Christian Petracca (Mexico City), Jordan De Goey (Moscow), Hugh Greenwood (Cairo), Patrick Ryder (Toronto)
I: Max Gawn [VC] (Berlin), Brodie Grundy (Beijing)

Co-coaches: Jukes & Torpedo10 (Moscow)

Torpedo10

Been a while between drinks for the Coach of the Week.  :o

Round 11

Rising Star

Apparently no one wants to be a rising star nominee! Not only is it rare to see our eligible players score more than say, 80, we had 6 players do just that, but only one of them - the lowest scoring Mitch Georgiades (Mexico City) with 86 - played in the 1s. Dillo Caleb Serong (118) missed out joining his team on a glorious win over Beijing, whilst Thunderbat Kyron Hayden (103) could have helped  prevent it.

Team of the Week

Oh man, the Seoul midfield! Josh Kelly (196) and Clayton Oliver (177) lead this week alongside coach JB, who had a simply earth shattering week. Jack Macrae was third in line to cap off the week of the mids, whilst Toronto teammate Rowan Marshall kept Gawn out of the R1 spot. Special mention to PNLs Oscar Allen taking residence at F2, in an otherwise typical team.

D: James Sicily (Mexico City), Jake Lloyd (New Delhi), Dane Rampe (Dublin), Brodie Smith (Berlin)
M: Josh Kelly [C] (Seoul), Clayton Oliver [VC] (Seoul), Jack Macrae (Toronto), Lachie Neale (Beijing)
R: Rowan Marshall (Toronto)
F: Toby Greene (Dublin), Oscar Allen (PNL), Patrick Ryder (Toronto), Christian Petracca (Mexico City)
U: Max Gawn (Berlin), Tim Kelly (Toronto)

Coach: JBs-Hawks (Seoul)

Round 12

Rising Star

For the second straight week, Caleb Serong (114) has been snubbed off a worthy Rising star nomination by his coach. Shame. This leaves Dublin's Jack Mahony (95) to swoop in and claim it, after being subbed in for Toby Greene.

Team of the Week

A few things going on in this team - a mix of the old with the new! The blast from the past is headed by Captain Dustin Martin, former up-and-coming stars Alex Witherden and Ollie Wines, whilst Nic Nat also showed he's still got it.

The newbies included London's Nick Hind and Cairo's Lincoln McCarthy... well, I suppose it's his second TOTW hey >:(. But the biggest shoutout goes to the coach - iZander - which I think is his first coaching gong. A sign of things to come I suspect.

D: Alex Witherden [VC] (Toronto), Tom Stewart (Cairo), Luke Ryan (PNL), Jake Lloyd (New Delhi)
M: Tom Mitchell (Pacific), Jack Macrae (Toronto), Lachie Neale (Beijing), Patrick Cripps (Berlin)
R: Nic Naitanui (Mexico City)
F: Dustin Martin [C] (Dublin), Lachie Whitfield (Tokyo), Nick Hind (London), Lincoln McCarthy (Cairo)
U: Jed Anderson (New York), Ollie Wines (Buenos Aires)

Coach: iZander (Buenos Aires)

What a year he is having <3.

Round 13

Rising Star

The top scorer was at least in the seniors this week, with Will Day's (Rio de Janeiro) 87 crucial for Rio's potentially season-defining weekend.

Team of the Week

A different looking one this week (but identical for Round 14), with Christchurch making a rare appearance in the defence and bench. Clayton Oliver rose the bat twice and receives the C, whilst Big O gets his first selection in the TOTW.

M: Clayton Oliver [C] (Seoul), Lachie Neale (Beijing), Taylor Adams (Cairo), Dom Sheed (London)

F: Andrew Brayshaw [VC] (Buenos Aires), Christian Petracca (Mexico City), Lachie Whitfield (Tokyo), Oscar McInerney (New Delhi)
U: Rowan Marshall (Toronto), Sean Darcy (Christchurch)

Coach: Toga (Beijing)

Round 14

Rising Star

Seoul's Luke Jackson missed out on this one in the reserves, but it paves way for the overdue nomination of Caleb Serong (Buenos Aires) (82).

Team of the Week

The same team as Round 13 given the simultaneous round, and no outrageous restings.

D: Adam Cerra (Buenos Aires), Jake Lloyd (New Delhi), Harris Andrews (Cape Town), Mark Blicavs (Christchurch)
M: Clayton Oliver [C] (Seoul), Lachie Neale (Beijing), Taylor Adams (Cairo), Dom Sheed (London)
R: Brodie Grundy (Beijing)
F: Andrew Brayshaw [VC] (Buenos Aires), Christian Petracca (Mexico City), Lachie Whitfield (Tokyo), Oscar McInerney (New Delhi)
