Whilst we may be having simultaneous rounds this year, these weekly awards will still function as normal e.g. next week where WXV Rounds 2 + 3 will occur simultaneously, there will be both a Rising Star and TOTW for both of those rounds, granted team submissions are permitted to be different.

Rising Star

NB: qualification  = AFL Rising Star criteria apply, and have to actually have played in the round for a WXV team

Every round, a World XVs rising star nomination is given to a standout young player whom performed well during that particular round. To be eligible to be nominated for the award, a player must be younger than 21 years of age on 1 January of the award year and have played 10 or fewer senior games before the beginning of the season.

#2
Round 1

Rising Star

He may have originally been an emergency, AND he may have played OOP, but Moscow's Sam Sturt (100) contributed to the strong performance at Moscow this week, showing a bright future is ahead. He was by far and away the highest scorer, beating out New Delhi's undebuted Justin McInerney (81) and of course, Seoul's Matt Rowell (80).

Team of the Week

Whilst Dominated by Dublin (4) and Beijing (3), Rio's new recruit Jack Viney (186) leads the team this week, closely followed by Cape Town's Ben Cunnington (185). Huge performances! Meanwhile, Tokyo's Brody Mihocek misses out on a would-be F4 spot.

D: Jeremy Howe (Dublin), Shannon Hurn (Dublin), Shaun Burgoyne (Cape Town), Sam Docherty (Moscow)
M: Jack Viney [C] (Rio de Janeiro), Ben Cunnington [VC] (Cape Town), Dylan Shiel (PNL), Lachie Neale (Beijing)

Round 2

Rising Star

Goodness me, I believe that's the highest ever nomination-score in WXVs history, and I think plenty more is in store for Seoul's Matt Rowell (171).

Team of the Week

A lot of typical names in this one - and soon to be typical in Matt Rowell & Rozee - with Max Gawn leading two other rucks in the TOTW. Boy, there sure is a few ex-Brewers either in this team or was on the cusp of it  :'(

D: Dane Rampe (Dublin), Jake Lloyd (New Delhi), Jeremy Howe (Dublin), Luke Ryan (PNL)
M: Lachie Neale [VC] (Beijing), Matt Rowell (Seoul), Zach Merrett (PNL), Joel Selwood (Berlin)
R: Max Gawn [C] (Berlin)
F: Michael Walters (Tokyo), Connor Rozee (Moscow), Gary Jnr Ablett (Toronto), Brad Ebert (Cape Town)
I: Todd Goldstein (Dublin), Reilly O'Brien (Buenos Aires)

*finishing off the simultaneous Round 3 Rising Star/TOTW*

Round 3

Rising Star

It's fitting he is simultaneously nominated alongside 'best mate' Matt Rowell, New Delhi's Noah Anderson (75), despite scoring 96 points less than Rowell, was actually the highest scorer of those that played seniors, given Rowell was rested in Round 3. Others to tough it out in the ressies were Brandon Starcevich (99), Curtis Taylor (78) and Max King (77).

Team of the Week

As mentioned, Rowell was rested in this match so he doesn't reappear in the TOTW for Round 3. He is replaced by Rio's Nat Fyfe, in what was the only change from the Round 2 TOTW.

D: Dane Rampe (Dublin), Jake Lloyd (New Delhi), Jeremy Howe (Dublin), Luke Ryan (PNL)
M: Lachie Neale [VC] (Beijing), Zach Merrett (PNL), Joel Selwood (Berlin), Nat Fyfe (Rio de Janeiro)
R: Max Gawn [C] (Berlin)
F: Michael Walters (Tokyo), Connor Rozee (Moscow), Gary Jnr Ablett (Toronto), Brad Ebert (Cape Town)
I: Todd Goldstein (Dublin), Reilly O'Brien (Buenos Aires)

Round 5

Rising Star

The kid that should have gone to Melbourne with Pick 3 was duly snapped up by Mexico City at Pick 5, whom reaped the rewards of Hayden Young (109) tonning up this week. He was the highest scorer of those not yet nominated.

Team of the Week

A completely different team this week (Lachie Neale excepted), but similarities still exist! The Captain (Docherty) led a losing side, there are three rucks in the team and... yep! One of the oddest TOTWs in my recollection actually, and kudos to GoLions for taking out his first ever TOTW coaching gong? Please confirm?

D: Sam Docherty [C] (Moscow), Jordan Ridley (Tokyo), Adam Saad (London), Shane Edwards (Cairo)
M: Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific), Scott Pendlebury (Moscow), Jarrod Berry (Buenos Aires), Lachie Neale (Beijing)
R: Toby Nankervis [VC] (Cape Town)
F: Charlie Dixon (Seoul), Chad Wingard (Buenos Aires), Levi Casboult (Moscow), Jy Simpkin (Beijing)
I: Timothy English (London), Jarrod Witts (Pacific)

Round 6

Rising Star

Alright I'm starting to get fed up with Seoul's drafting. Rhylee West (74) is this rounds nomination, selected ahead of Dillo Tom Green (94), Thunderbat Kyron Hayden (75) and Wolf Justin McInerney (74).

Team of the Week

Unchanged from Round 5, such is the effect of a simultaneous round.

D: Sam Docherty [C] (Moscow), Jordan Ridley (Tokyo), Adam Saad (London), Shane Edwards (Cairo)
M: Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific), Scott Pendlebury (Moscow), Jarrod Berry (Buenos Aires), Lachie Neale (Beijing)
R: Toby Nankervis [VC] (Cape Town)

Round 7

Rising Star

Another day, another Seoul Rising Star nom. Curtis Taylor (100) is this week's nominee, being the only one who cracked the ton out of 2020s eligible pool. New Delhi's Laitham Vandermeer (99) just needed an extra point to share it with him... but Seoul aren't in
the business of sharing it seems.

Team of the Week

A more traditional team with a couple of newbies - notably Dillos forward Andrew Brayshaw, and compatriot Adam Cerra. New Delhi's Josh Bruce (138) is stiff to miss out though, squandering in the 2s with the 8th highest score of the week. Christchurch's Phil Davis (127) also misses out on the D4 position, scoring from the 2s.

Max Gawn captains the team once again, whilst Grundy and Goldstein take their rightful place on the bench. Toges also gets his overdue first coaching gong for 2020.

D: Nick Haynes (Seoul), Adam Cerra (Buenos Aires), Jake Lloyd (New Delhi), Heath Shaw (Beijing)
M: Dylan Shiel (PNL), Harry Perryman (Pacific), Jack Steele (New York), Travis Boak (Toronto)
R: Max Gawn [C] (Berlin)
F: Kane Lambert [VC] (Beijing), Tom Hawkins (Moscow), Andrew Brayshaw (Buenos Aires), Hugh Greenwood (Cairo)

Round 8

Rising Star

Hahaha, wtf. The TWELVE highest scorers this week are ineligible to be nominated, all waiting in the reserves. So with that, Round 8s Rising Star Nominee is... Max King and his 61 points for Beijing.

Team of the Week

Callum Mills went HUGE for Cape Town, and is this weeks Captain. Berlin have a strong contingent, whilst Hugh Greenwood makes his 2nd consecutive appearance (I missed him out as F4 last week).

Yours truly takes out his first Coach of the Week gong this year  8)

D: Callum Mills [C] (Cape Town), James Sicily (Mexico City), Brodie Smith (Berlin), Jeremy McGovern (Cairo)
M: Sam Menegola (Cape Town), Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul), Joel Selwood (Berlin), Touk Miller (London)
